Happy Easter! 🌸 Do you celebrate?... 🌸 American Easter is mostly the bunny, baskets, colorful eggs and gifts for kids and FOOD... 🌸 In Liberia, we had Easter eggs too and most people wore white to church and Christians did what they do best- make others feel guilty... 🌸 What’s your Easter like?
Saturdays are for running around letting rural Virginia know I’m African. What’s more African than Hakuna Matata/Lion King? 🤪What’s your favorite Saturday activity?
The level of extra you should aspire to be 🤷🏾♀️ Swipe left: (pic 3-8 are they fans or nah?) See what had happen was, Barcelona market clearly was my runway. I don’t blend in when I travel. I know African prints stand out, but elaborate gowns is the icing on my extra abroad! I plan to hold and kiss white babies the next time I’m in Europe too.... ✈️ Are you an obnoxious tourist too or you blend in? #Africanandbold #travelingAfrican #ExtraAF
People calling my name correctly, finding money in my laundry and checking everything on my To-Do list 🤪.... ☑️ Name something(s) that make you this happy! 👀❤️
Happy Sunday Folks! If we learn anything from White Jesus is that Palm Sunday reminds us that the same people that welcome Jesus crucify him only a week later😩👀... 💚 Not everyone standing next to you want the best for you and everyone in your circle is certainly not in your corner! Can I get a Amen?
So, I enjoy sharing my stories...I’m joining forces with some other cool people to write a book! Better Than IRL: A book that collects true stories about finding your people on the internet of the mid-2000s. I’ll be sharing about being vulnerable with complete strangers that sometimes turned out to be creeps or besties 🤪🤷🏾♀️Check my Bio for ways you can support this project... 📙 Did you guys have AOL instant messengers ( not talking to the younger kids- go to bed fetus!) Drop your AIM name below:
Most people point out your WRONG because they can’t handle what’s RIGHT. I got two missing teeth and a heart of gold. What you got? 🤷🏾♀️🤪
Sometimes the most treasured gift is the most difficult to give and can be impossible to wrap! Tell your friend when their shit stink! Don’t sugarcoat or make it sound better just to rub their ego. Real love makes the hard call... 🗣 Greg you are 48-stop pushing this rapper career😩Sally, just by saying “I don’t mean to be racist” does not help your case. You say that to cover up!😩Sue, stop making YouTube Tutorials for all 7 of your followers. 😩Marie, you can’t count someone else’s husband as a blessing. 😩Will, stop sending long paragraphs to her DM. Sis doesn’t want you!🤷🏾♀️... 🗣 You are not a hater. It is your job to tell your friend what everyone is thinking. Don’t listen to me though- my besties are on the internet and I play dress up with African print in my free time 😩... 🗣 Should we tell our friends when their shit stink? Thoughts?
If I don’t wear a T-shirt that says I’m Black, how else would you know?😩🤷🏾♀️
KuKuJuMuKu [Koo Koo Ju moo koo] saying commonly used in Liberia (West Africa) meaning “You na insa, you na know” which translate to if you’ve not experience it, you can’t fully understand it... ☑️ Do you have to go through something before you can speak on it?... #africanprints #ankarazone #africanAndBold #liberiangirlmagic #africanfashiontrends #africanprintfashion #happyAfrican #blackgirlmagic #africanprintjunkie #ankaraprints #melaninmagic #africanfashion #brownskinbeauty #melaninLove #Africa #Africanprintday #ankarazone #ankaracatalogue #diamondsofafrica #instadaily #blackgirlmagic #fauxlocs #liberiangirlmagic #Liberiangirl #widelegpants #iwearafrican #afroslaying
“I used to admire one of my friends’ skin color so when I asked her what kind of cream she was using, she told me it was Bio Clear. So I went to the store and bought my own to start using so that my skin could be fine too.” -Bendu (Young Liberian girl/street vendor in central Monrovia) - @fpaafrica ... 🍫 Talking about skin bleaching in and around Africa in my stories today. With the recent ban of bleaching products in some countries, is this the way forward? How can we address this issue without only dealing with the symptom?... 🍫 I know people I started school with that looked like me and now a few shades away from being white women. This is prevalent in Africa, the Caribbean and parts of Asia. Where else? Let’s Talk 👀
Springing into April like this... 🌼 Spring is all about CLEANING! Clear out people, places, accounts and anything that is not serving you... 🌼 People- everybody is NOT your friend. People in your circle are probably not even in your corner!... 🌼 Places-move if you’re feeling stuck! I am not saying go to Atlanta cuz everyone is going. You can go across the ocean and still bring your baggage with you. Move away from places if you’re not growing... 🌼 Accounts- stop following people who expose your insecurities. You’re jealous of good lighting, filters and curated lives. Unfollow any account that make your look down on your own life. It is not inspiration if you’re trying to copy and paste and getting error... 🌼 Others- No need to Kumbayah and Kiki with everyone. You can still be friendly without having BESTIES. Look for peace every chance you get. Sometimes peace is as simple as saying “Thanks for your time, but this relationship/situationship ends here”. Clean out your thoughts. Let it go sis! If he didn’t want you then, he don’t want you know and that’s fine. Know the difference between people riding WITH you and those riding FOR you... 🌼 If all this fail, just clear out your winter clothes and add some colors. What are your Spring goals?
I guess it’s that show your legs type of weather 👀☀️We make such a big deal about shaving that I forgot hairs on the legs is just a regular shit... ☀️ Miss me with all your pink razors and hair remover this summer. I’m tired! I will shave when I want to! Don’t invite me and my hairy parts to your summer events because I decided I’m spending my money for razors on FOOD!... ☀️ And don’t ask me about waxing because I tried in Brazil (cuz obviously, while in Brazil, you have to!😩🤷🏾♀️) and sweet baby African Jesus, I still feel like they took out my unborn children! 😢So back to razors- Who else is lazy about shaving? 👀
High 70s with the chances of spending money that I just transfer from my savings account! 🤷🏾♀️ How’s your weekend going?
Throw🔙 to mixed African prints in my mother’s driveway because I was unemployed and bored... 🔸 Whoever is going through a rough spot right now, get dress up, take photos and ignore the perfection on the internet... 🔸 Every dark cloud passes eventually. I could sit around and feel sorry for myself. I’d just walked away from my “dream job” and I was back on my mother’s couch. This is what I did... 🔸 Make best of the card you’re dealt. How do you deal with tough times?
Refugee ✅ Asylum seekers✅ Migrant✅ Internally displaced✅... These words are constantly on our TV screens or wherever you get your news. What’s the difference? Who’s who and why are people always leaving their home country to go somewhere? Do you know some people change their names, age and or even marry their own sibling just to get documents/entry into some countries?... I’m discussing some immigration issues in my stories tonight. If you are confuse about any of this, #checkyourprivilege 🤷🏾♀️
Constant is not the same as dependable. I like to think of myself as dependable and not constant. I barely talk to people I love mostly because minding the business that pays you is a full time job and sometimes this African loves to be alone... 💙 I enjoy being around people and until recently, I especially enjoy the company of girlfriends and what not. However, I am just not sure holding hands, Kumbayas or Kikis is genuine these days. I don’t need to be constantly in your face to show you I am dependable. The people I love know they can depend on me and hear from me occasionally... 💙 If you need to hear from me constantly to validate our friendship, thy got me all the way fucketh over. Kindly terminate our contract... 💙 How’s your Sunday?
