These birdies enjoyed some awesome hot yoga yesterday thanks to @thehotboxyoga It was great to get out and have some recovery before our big game tomorrow Vs Caps @ 12:45. We look forward to enjoying more hot yoga next year!! 💙🐥
Meet the team: Introducing 2nd year winger Delaney Aikens. Most people don’t understand how this pretty girl is a rugby player, but it all makes sense once you see her fancy footwork and feisty defence. Laney is the speediest player on the team even though she has to overcome the extra weight of her eyelashes. This summer, she represented Canada at the youth olympics for 7’s and is currently in San Diego playing for the maple leafs. The birds are so lucky to have this talented sweetheart on the team! Good luck this weekend Laney ❤️ Year: 2 Position: wing Program: Arts Hometown: Biercrest Sask.
Great way to end off the 7’s season as the next gen women’s champions at the Vancouver invitational. Big thanks to the alumni who came back to join the birds 💙🥇

Happy International Women’s Day!! Here’s to all the strong, powerful, women. May we know them and may we be them. Today let’s remember everything that has gone into levelling the playing field for women in society. Today we are thankful for the opportunity to participate in a sport where there are no differences and we are treated as equals.
Meet the team: Introducing the hottest player on the women’s team. Although this woman drinks enough milk to own her own cow, she also holds the world record for being in an air cast for the longest amount of time. You’d never guess it by looking at her but Payton is the proud owner of a fake tooth and loves dogs more than anyone you’ll ever meet. This fiery lock has the biggest heart of any but cross her and you will feel her wrath. They don’t call her Satan McNeill for nothing. We love you and can’t wait to see you back and healthy in September 💙 Year: 2 Position: Lock Program: Kin Hometown: St. Albert AB.
Come out tomorrow to cheer on the 7s team on home field at GMP🏉 schedule and live stream linked here💙 https://gothunderbirds.ca/sports/2019/2/25/canada-west-womens-rugby-sevens-tournament.aspx
Meet the team: Introducing 5th year full back, Nikki Mallow. Most people don’t believe that Mallow used to be a ballerina since she is constantly falling on the field, even without being in contact. This graduate student is straight out of worst case Ontario and has no plans on leaving the West Coast best coast. When she is not in Woodward library, the gym, or the roxy, she can be found at as many of her fellow t-bird’s games as possible. This Grandma is finishing up her U Sports career and will be very missed next year!! Catch her in action this weekend at the last 7’s tournament on home soil. Year: 5 Position: 15 Program: Kinesiology Hometown: Caledon ON.
Meet the team: Introducing the team grandma, Kim Brown. This Academic All Canadian continually claims she is going to fail school, which is almost as insane as the amount of times she has been injured. Kimbo is extremely accident prone which is very unfortunate because the team would way rather her to be on the field smashing people than sitting in the hospital. She is always taking care of the girls, especially if she gets to drive them to her favourite place, VGH. This incredibly caring, smarty pants, big mamma will be very missed next year! We love ya Kim 💙 Year: 69 Position: lock Program: Chemical engineering Hometown: Delta
Meet the team: Introducing first year winger, Charlotte Ketchen. She is likely the dopest person on the team as she is apart of a one man scooter gang 🛴 It takes Chuck longer than the average bear to learn our plays, but once she remembers them, she runs her lines flippen hard and fast. She may be from North Van where she grinds at the soup mister but this chika thinks she’s from the hood. Her daily talk consists of lingo like: Gang gang, that’s so lit, dank, dope, that’s so hype, you’re sus, just like chillin’ and yo pass the chuf. Her sick personality and killer moves on the field add a lot to our team! Love you Chuckles 💙 Year: 1 Position: wing Program: Kinesiology Hometown: North Van
Meet the team: Introducing 2nd year prop, Sarah Klok. She started her athletic career playing hockey, but then found that she could smash people even harder during rugby, so she switched sports. Klok, along with @rachelchoboter are considered the pugs of the team (see picture 2 for proof). Her go to party trick is rapping Eminem for anyone she can get to listen and she will likely have a grapefruit vodka in her hand while she does it. This powerful mama is a key player for the birds 👊🏻💙💪🏻 Year: 2 Position: Prop Program: unsure Hometown: Abbotsford
Meet the team: Introducing first year lock, Rori Wood. The U-Sports rookie of the year wasn’t always a rugby star... she started her athletic career as an Irish Dancer (the team will need to see some video evidence of this though)... she drops it like it’s hot on and off the field, can sing like an angel but yell the team cheer like a full grown man, and always gives 100% in every practice and game. Make sure to come watch this all star March 2nd and 3rd at our home 7’s tournament! Year: 1 Position: lock Program: Kinesiology Home town: Sooke
Meet the team: Introducing first year scrum half, Mackenzie Adam. Despite watching the Greys Anatomy series 6 times, she has been unsuccessful in saving the lives of her multiple pet fish. Mack is from a large family with four other siblings, all of which love to camp and fish. If there is a home @ubcmensvolleyball game, Mack will be there cheering on the boys, including her BF @tyson_smitty 😏 Even though Mack is only 5 subs and 2 inches tall, she has a very big and amazing presence on the team. We love you @_kenzieadam 💕 Year: 1 Position: 9 Program: Science Home town: White Rock
Meet the team: Introducing 3rd year fly half Breanna Aikens. This little power house is the oldest of five siblings, can rock a pair of sweatpants better than anyone else, enjoys eating pickles, and can be easily spotted in Molly, her bright orange Jeep. This fun loving smarty pants is studying hard to one day become an orthodontists, but when she takes a rare study break, she can be found singing every word to every song at the Roxy or Yale. If you ever get the pleasure of conversing with Bree, make sure to ask her to say the word “battery”, you will not regret it. The team is very thankful that Bree left her farm in Saskatchewan to join the birds! We love you 😘💙 Year: 3 Position: 10 Program: bio Home town: Briercrest Sask.
Meet the team: Introducing first year winger, Kally King. This speedy rookie is easily spotted on the field because of her curly pigtail hair do. Kally has a giant obsession with raccoons, and sources say she may have cried the last time she came in contact with one. This forest loving, tree climbing expert was the cutest child her big buddy @nikkimallow has ever seen and picture #4 is currently Mallow’s phone background. We couldn’t be happier that Kally decided to leave the interior and come join the birds. Her amazingly weird personality and insane talent is huge for the program. Year: 1 Position: wing Program: Natural Recourse Conservation Hometown: Kamloops
It was a cold weekend at the 2nd leg of the Canada West 7’s series, but the birds pulled off 5 wins out of the 6 games and are still in the lead of the conference. Ft. @shosh_seumanu biggest fan😍
