Rolling into the weekend with pure happiness! This guy is a miracle and fills my heart with joy. He came into this world at 2 pounds with a strong heart, a strong will and a mind filled with creativity. He’s got wisdom beyond his years and has a way of reminding me that with a little creativity and unwavering determination any idea can turn into something this world really needs. #inspirecreativity
Recently I had a client ask me, "Theresa, what has been the hardest part of building your business over the years?" Was it... Figuring out my Marketing Teaching Creating regular content Knowing what software to use Understanding my numbers Speaking in front of people The truth is all of these things light my soul on fire and none of it feels heavy, confusing or frightening. But you want to know what has been the hardest part? Fear of rejection and managing all of the self-doubt in between my two ears. I've had that little voice pop in and say "no one will like your ideas, you're not good enough, you're not smart enough to do the BIG things, people will laugh at you, it will totally flop". And truth. Over the years, I've had to work on managing these thoughts like many people and if I don't they can hold me back from taking any action...which isn't good for anyone. In fact, not too long ago I bravely stood in front of a crowded room of fellow entrepreneurs and spoke about how my fear of rejection has held me back in the past...and how I used that fear to push me forward. If you're reading this you might be wishing you could do BIG things to grow your business, let go of the fear of people rejecting your ideas so you can bring innovation into your business, become a better leader, create more freedom in your schedule while still growing your income...take it from me...you can totally do this. I did it and so can you. What I’ve learned over the years, is that when you open yourself up to the world, including being open to rejection and continuing to show up anyway, the world will open up to you. On the road to achieving the “impossible” we will be faced with rejection, mistakes and failures. That’s how you learn to be real, to speak your truth and to share your journey. And to the little voice that has been holding you back, tell it, "thank you, but it's time to change this channel.”
Start something and make mistakes because you can always get back up and learn valuable lessons to make it better the next time. If you think about it, mistakes and failures are only as you frame them in your own mind. I believe they are really inventions waiting to be created and an invitation to finding a solution and discovering a brand new way. Our interest gets us started but it’s our grit, determination and unwavering dedication that keeps us going to finding new discoveries, even when it gets really tough (and no doubt it will get tough). But first you have to start. And if you never start or never get back up after a failure or setback you won't know what could be possible, what you could discover. So tell me, what amazing thing did you start or achieve this week? I want to hear about it!
Quality vs Quantity? We hear this a lot when it comes to creating content, products and offers in our business. But here’s what you should really focus on to make an impact and build more connection.
Happy St.Patty's Day! One thing my Irish mother in law "mums" has always taught me is to live a great life. Her advice is smile everyday, give lots of hugs (she's a hugger) laugh at yourself always and don't take things too seriously, count your blessings often and live a simple, great life. She's also not a fan of corned beef and cabbage, prefers Jameson to Bushmills, is the best to travel around Ireland with, has a the jolliest laugh you will ever hear and a heart of gold. Happy weekend! #happystpattys
Breakthroughs are found in the unexpected. If you hang around in what is expected it is unlikely that you will be surprised in what you find. Sometimes this means pushing out of what’s comfortable, taking imperfect action and putting ourselves and our message out there for the world. And sometimes this means slowing down and finding our inspiration in the space between our incredible, brave actions.
Some words of wisdom and a little note to self: find mentors that like to laugh, don't mind talking about the wins or losses and will be there to help you find your way out of the dark. ⠀ ⠀ This year I have the honor to work with @sarahboyd and @colinboyd as they help me to shape my business, take my commitment to the next level and most important learn to soar even higher. ⠀ ⠀ Not only are they super smart, super business minded and super innovative, they are super fun, inspiring and are committed to guide each of us towards our own individual breakthrough years. This is an amazing step in my journey from being an entrepreneur and stepping into being a CEO (whew, that sounds scary and exciting at the same time).⠀ ⠀ I’m excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to share some exciting new things that are coming! ⠀ ⠀ Who’s your mentor? Show some love and tag them in the comments below.⠀
There isn't any magic when it comes to planning a successful project, event or even a launch. What it takes is understanding the why, what and who behind what your doing. Start with the end in mind and have the right intention and let the magic happen!
We all struggle with the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur. If you want success you have to keep going, keep trying, keep experimenting even when things don’t quite work. Things will get messy but that’s where innovation comes from. Create relationships on a deeper level because connection and community is what builds strength and gets you through the messiness. Things take time to grow and often don’t happen in a linear way but that’s ok because when they start to grow they soar. Keep nurturing your ideas with the things you create, invent and build that will awaken minds to new perspectives and open hearts to lead with love. Reach further to go farther, but not alone, and never stop fighting for your dreams because that my friend is how we change the world. It may seem impossible until you get started. Start your week with a cup of coffee and some inspiration with me here live tomorrow morning at 9 am (eastern time). See you then!
Years ago my friend talked me into auditioning for a movie as an extra. The movie, “The Last Airbender” and they were looking for people with martial arts training. I had no acting experience and as we stood in line with the rest of the people waiting to audition doing their biggest and craziest moves, I looked around and thought “what am I doing here, look at all these people who are better than me. Maybe I should be doing what they’re doing? Maybe we should duck out the exit? I feel silly, I feel different.” 🙏🏻 My best friend looked at me and said “Don’t worry, you got this. Why do what everyone else is doing on a Saturday afternoon, when we can be different. Just be you and think about all the funny stories we’ll have from this experience.” I got up to the casting people and I didn’t do what everyone was doing, I was just me...and I stood out from the crowd. 🙏🏻 I didn’t get into the movie but I did learn a lot about myself that day. 🙏🏻 We spend so much time trying to fit in when we have so many opportunities to stand out from the crowd and do our own thing, just because we want to avoid the fear of rejection. 🙏🏻 We look at what everyone else in our industry is doing and think we need to do the same because we’re afraid to be different and be innovative for fear it won’t work. And my answer to you is you don’t need to be like everyone else. Run your own race, do your own thing, create your legacy. 🙏🏻 When you break out of the mold and stand out from the crowd you move from what’s possible instead of from circumstance. And when you do that you can create better things to make the world better. Look outside for inspiration, dare to create different products, services and programs that create make a difference and experience the joy that comes with learning to stand out. In the wise words of Dr. Seuss, Why fit in when you were born to stand out? In my teens I had no fear and I had BIG dreams. In my 20’s I found my creativity, discovered my voice and found courage. In my 30’s I climbed mountains of struggle, built my first business and experienced the ins and outs of business, the good, the bad and ugly and along the way discovered my resilience and strength. Now in my 40’s I’ve discovered my purpose, to help business owners who are struggling to find their courage, be a better leader and build a blueprint so they can thrive once again. I found mentors who have encouraged me to dig deep and be exactly who I am. I’ve learned that strength comes from vulnerability, from having the courage to show up and be exactly who you are and be a stand for what you believe, even in the face of criticism. To not be afraid to show up in the messiness, to be ok with things not being perfect so you can do what we are meant to do. To lean into fear so you can lead, inspire and teach. To use your voice, your insights and your wisdom to change the world by taking small steps towards a bigger impact. If you’re ready to take small steps towards a big impact get my FREE audio download (link in bio).
Lead with love and listen to your heart. Be you. Live passionately. Do what you feel is right, not what everyone says or wants you to do. Trust yourself because you know what’s right. When you are pursuing your dreams there will be obstacles, twists and turns. Within each there are chances to learn more from and about you. Be inspired. Be different. Don’t be afraid to fail because failure gives us chances to learn and try again and learn and try again. Your ideas are valuable and a gift whether 1 person or 1,000 people like them. Lean into your fear and let it move you forward. Don’t tiptoe around what you really want. Think and dream bigger because that’s where innovation lives. On your path to achieving what you want let your heart be your guide. Because there you will find your greatest treasure. Tag someone who might need this message today!
If you want success, keep showing up and keep fighting for your dreams. Look fear in the face and say "I got this". Be grateful for all you have and all you've done to get here. Ignore the people who tell you “You can’t do this, you don’t have what it takes”, because guess what, you absolutely do. You are valuable for who you are not for what you do. I ignored them when they told me I couldn’t do it and since then I proved them wrong...so can you. Give yourself some grace to slow down, to make space to get creative and to create a plan to achieve your goals...so you can get moving and make it happen. You can totally do this, I believe in you 🙏🏻 . PS- Join me here every Monday at 9am (Eastern time) live for a cup of coffee and some motivation to start your week!
The first thing I noticed about him was his funny laugh...and his kind eyes. He interviewed me 22 years ago to see if I had any computer skills...and of course I did. ⠀ ⠀ We've been together 20 years. We waited 14 years to get married...we do things in our own time. We got married on the island of Nevis 6 years ago this June. He picked out our wedding rings with the Gaelic inscription "Mo Anam Cara" (my soul mate).⠀ ⠀ He's always encouraged me to be Me just as I am, perfectly imperfect. We've had many curve balls thrown at us over the years and many mountains we've had to climb and through it all we've done it with humor and tons of love for each other.⠀ ⠀ He has the strongest faith of anyone I know and no matter what we've faced he always looks for the positive...even when trying my cooking. ⠀ ⠀ I am the luckiest girl and have the best soul mate who supports all of my crazy endeavors, is always by my side and who has filled my life with tons of laughter, extraordinary wit and love. I am so grateful and thank God every day to have this amazing man in my life.
You know the things that have been on your mind? The situations that leave a pit in your stomach, the "to do" list that is a mile long, the fear of not knowing what step to take next, not knowing what to do to break through the blocks you’ve hit...yeah those things.⠀ ⠀ I'm here to tell you it's going to be ok and everything will turn out fine. You can worry and keep yourself up all night (I’ve done that before and it’s not healthy for you) or you can take a deep breath and take one small step towards getting focused. ⠀ ⠀ Focus isn't just something you have, it's also something you do. The faster and busier you get the more frantic things can feel, especially if you are trying to focus on too many things at once that keep you feeling overwhelmed. ⠀ ⠀ When things get busy you need time to focus, to think, to create, to ask questions. You don't need more things to do, you need to focus on doing the right things. The few vital things done one step by one step that will make a big impact. Trust the process, get your focus back and let go. ⠀ ⠀ Let’s do this my friend! ⠀ ⠀ PS- this picture was me trusting the process, learning to lean back (literally) and let go...and not be worried about falling. As they say, you have to learn how to fall before you learn how to fly! (Photo credit to the amazing @joelongophotography )
He asked how he could grow his business fast. Is it FB Ads? Is it Google Ads? Is it adding more product?⠀ ⠀ I get asked this question often and what I’ve seen are 3 things that are missing and when focused on open the doorway to their success. They want to do "all the things” but don't have some core things in place. It's like building a house without laying the foundation first. ⠀ ⠀ So here’s what they are...⠀ ⠀ You need to have a clear, compelling vision for the future. If you want to go to the next level in your business you need to have a vision beyond where you are right now. A vision is a road map to lead you on the path to success and being able to visualize it every day is what’s going to drive you forward. ⠀ ⠀ You don't need to work longer hours to be successful while focusing on doing more stuff. You need to learn to focus on the "vital few" things that are important to moving the needle in your business. Trying to do everything only leads to burn out.⠀ ⠀ You need to have a daily strategy to get stuff done. When we have clear goals that connect directly to the vision you have for your business you can stay focused on what is really important. Small focused action outweighs big random busyness any day.⠀ ⠀ It's your turn. I would love to hear your insights. What are things that you do to set yourself up for success in your business?
The goal of business isn’t to get more likes and followers even though many times we think that’s what we need to do. It’s also not necessarily to have tons and tons of people on our email list just for the sake of having a large list that ultimately we do nothing with. ⠀ ⠀ The ultimate goal is to create connection and build good relationships. It’s about helping others to discover and achieve their highest potential. It's about taking our ideas and creating something that changes lives. It's about learning to tell our story with all the ins and outs, ups and downs so that just maybe it can help one person out there. ⠀ ⠀ Be real. Show up and share your discoveries. Every experience leads us to lessons, not failures. And in these lessons we learn new things about who we are and exactly what we are capable of doing. Nothing is perfect and it won’t ever be. ⠀ ⠀ You don’t realize how many gold nuggets are within that can change behaviors, shift perspectives and provide valuable insights that people need. It’s not about a tactic, cheesy strategy or latest app. It’s about being real and being there for your community creating connection and building meaningful relationships. ⠀ ⠀ The more lessons you learn the more stories you can share and the cool part is the person you become along the way to achieving your own success.
Let the impact you can make in the lives of others be the drive you need to keep moving forward. When you help others to win, you will win. When you focus on creating something that can increase the quality of someone's life, you increase the quality of your own. It's not about how much money you can make but more about following your dreams and leaving your mark on this world by using your gifts to help others. If you are solely focused on chasing money you'll constantly be pushing it away and chasing it forever. Focus on making an impact, making better things that make things better, getting your ideas out into the world and playing the long game. Start there and the money will always find you. Download my new FREE audio training “The Importance of Creating a Vision for Your Business”. It walk you through how your vision will create the roadmap you need to grow your business and stay focused and connected to the impact you want to make in this world (link in bio).
