What do you call a beautiful pumpkin? Gourd-geous! Gourd is occasionally used to describe plants in the family Cucurbitaceae, like, pumpkins, cucumbers, squash, luffa and melons. More specifically to the hollowed out, dried shell which one time has had many uses, like tools, musical instruments, art, unique cups and bowls. Come and get yours at our Harvest Market this weekend, September 28th & 29th, 9-4 @saskatoonfarm
Did you know? Espalier is the horticultural and ancient agricultural practice of controlling woody plant growth for the production of fruit, by pruning and tying branches to a frame. Plants are usually shaped in formal patterns or in our case climbing in and around a wind mill. Certain varieties of trees will adapt better to this practice, but we recommend trees grow bigger and with multiple branching like apples or pears! It is the best when you start with smaller plants as their branches are more playable and easy to manipulate.
FALL PLANTING Fall is our personal favorite time to plant for many reasons. Here's our top 3. You can find deals on plants in our garden centre as we are motivated to clear out inventory before winter. Check out stock with our 50% off on trees and shrubs. Planting in the fall means you don't have to care for them all summer! When trees and plants are dormant, it is safe for them to be moved and transplanted. Therefore giving your plants a better head start.
