In case you are wondering how Ruby feels about this winter....
#yarnlovechallenge2019 Missed the last day 28, the word was "ends"! And I thought about a post on how I love to weave ends in. I know, but I do! But what I'd truly like to see the end of is this un-relenting winter! A day where I can say "Winter ends! ", that's what I'm dreaming of! #goodbyefebruary
#Repost @creativeacorns (@get_repost) ・・・ 28 February: #fiberuarychallenge is hat selfie. Full #yarnlovechallenge confession: the ends aren't woven in. 📷 Tonya Leigh. #yarnlovechallenge2019 day 25 is "dye"! Dyeing suri is my love! Making up new colors is my party! Then my husband took it to new level, designing a dye house where I can now dye 76 skeins at a time! And it's automated! It has an app! #dyersofinstagram #knittersofinstagram
#Repost @gather_here (@get_repost) ・・・ Ruth Carter became the first African American to win the Oscar for Costume Design tonight. Ruth had previously been nominated for Malcolm X (1992) and Amistad (1997). In interviews since the release of “Black Panther” Ruth has discussed her process and the significance of the costumes. In a 2017 fashionista interview she explained, "I know that so many people love this story of the Black Panther, and I had a real responsibility to the fans to really get it right," said Carter. “In my hopes, [the costumes] will be something that would stand the test of time. That people could look back at it and love it for times to come.” Just a few days ago in an interview with CNN, "I thought this has got to be an important film, and it had to be something that was Afrofuturist ... I would have to represent images of beauty, forms of beauty, from the African tribal traditions so that African-Americans could understand it; so that (non-black) Americans could understand African-Americans better; so we could start erasing a homogenized version of Africa." • In tonight’s acceptance speech Ruth began with, “This has been a long time.” And she’s not wrong. Ruth’s body of work alone is Oscar-worthy and this past week she won the Costume Designers Guild Career Achievement Award as well as well as the Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Award for “Black Panther.” Ruth is a graduate of Hampton University and hails for Springfield, Massachusetts where her 97-year-old mother still lives. • “Marvel may have created the first black superhero,” she said, referring to the comic books that introduced the characters, “but through costume design we turned him into an African king.” • #wearewhatwemake #blackhistorymonth #celebrateBIPOCartists #useyourplatformforgood #elevatebipoc #ghblackhistorymonthseries
#Repost @foxandfolk (@get_repost) ・・・ Up close and personal with my favorite yarn!! Last weekend I got to spend the day shooting 📷 in the dye house, and in the skeining room at @lgfsuris farm. We played with yarn and color, and had some "help" from a curious kitten and three tactile little ones. I got a mountain of knitting requests from said chubby fingered little ones squishing the yarn stock. Now all I need is a good five or so extra hours in the day to knit it all... 😂❤️. Happy Sunday folks, I hope it's a cozy one! . . . #familieswhoknittogether #alpaca #fiberlove #womenrunbuisness #surialpaca #suri #fiberfarm #farmtoneedle #yarn #yarnlove #weareknitters #knittersofinstagram #knitingaddict #knit #knitting #knittersofig #knittersoftheworld

Snowdrifts up to my shoulders, Dean started to bobcat a path but couldn't get all the way. Got the bobcat stuck until we're get a tow truck or a tractor to pull it out there is no way to the barn! Fingers crossed people and hope i can get there tomorrow! The chickens and barn cats will be fine for one day but not 2! #canwinterbeover #blizzard #sooverwinter
