We should have stayed in our seats... We have been so fortunate to visit #Paris and @notredamedeparis many times. Easter 2010 was one of my very favorite. Attended Easter Mass with McClain. Snuck this little video (being the bad, fallen-away catholic that I am) and tried to keep a 12-year old McClain engaged. Very favorite story was lining up for communion. We should have stayed in our seats... I had the bright idea that we should go through the motions. I prepped McClain as best I could and off we went. “The Body of Christ” said the said the priest. “Amen” I replied without even thinking. Just one of those unconscious responses deep inside of me from years of Catholicism. Accepted the host in my hands, left on top of right, and then let it dissolve on my tongue. McClain followed suit. However, after he completed the Trinity motion (The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit) McClain went on to add his own personal touch, peace out (2 thumps on his chest followed by a 2-finger peace sign). I also thought (wrongly) that he could hold the host wafer in his hands and bring it back to our seat. He was cut off at the pass by men in black suites, telling him he could walk no further until the host was taken. We should have stayed in our seats! Our hearts are broken today by the news of this devastating fire!
