Come follow along to learn more about gardening, nature, and our pollinators! If anyone is interested, I have a bee seed kits available in my shop gigisgardengifts.com. Even with a brain the size of a poppy seed… bees are incredible. They can feel pain, remember scents, and even recognize faces-far more aware than we give them credit for. This little one landed on my hand and started rubbing his proboscis… almost like he was tasting or exploring. Not aggressive. Not scary. Just curious. #SaveTheBees #PollinatorsMatter#beesofinstagram #beesarecool #bees

Denmark is turning its harbors into havens of life 🌸🌊 Floating wildflower islands now bloom between boats and buildings. These tiny sanctuaries give birds a safe place to rest and nest. Bees and pollinators thrive among colorful native flowers. A simple idea — bringing nature back to the heart of the city. Urban waters are no longer empty spaces, but living ecosystems. Small islands, big impact for biodiversity and climate resilience. Proof that even floating gardens can help heal our planet. #Denmark #UrbanNature #WildlifeProtection #BeeFriendly #SustainableCities

Blue-banded bees (Amegilla)are some of the most fascinating native pollinators, not just for their striking electric-blue stripes, but for the way they build their homes. Unlike honeybees, which live in large colonies, blue-banded bees are solitary. Each female is an independent builder, forager, and mother and her nesting strategy is a small marvel of natural engineering. One of their preferred nesting materials is clay-rich sand or compacted soil. If you’ve ever noticed small holes in a vertical bank, a mud wall, or even between bricks in an old structure, you may have already seen the entrance to a blue-banded bee nest. These bees are drawn to substrates that are firm enough to hold their shape but soft enough to excavate, clay/sand is perfect. Using her mandibles and legs, the female bee carefully digs a narrow tunnel into the clay. This tunnel may branch into several smaller chambers, each one destined to hold a single offspring. #beeeducation #beesofinstagram #bluebandedbee #solitarybees #nativebees

The video depicts a standard beekeeping technique where worker bees cluster around a caged queen to familiarize themselves with her pheromones, reducing rejection risk upon release, as described in Purdue Extension’s queen introduction methods. This peaceful swarming, often called “bearding,” helps regulate temperature and signals acceptance; apiculture studies, like those in Bee Culture, note it keeps the queen warm without harm. Not every insect around your home is a known pest — many actually play helpful roles in the ecosystem. Spiders naturally control other insect populations, helping reduce flies and mosquitoes indoors. Moths are important nighttime pollinators, supporting flowers and plant reproduction while most people sleep. Mosquitoes, despite being annoying, serve as a food source for birds, fish, and other wildlife. Beetles help break down decaying plant matter, returning nutrients back into the soil. Bees are essential pollinators that support fruit, vegetable, and seed production worldwide. Millipedes feed on decomposing leaves and organic material, helping recycle nutrients in gardens and soil. While you don’t want infestations, seeing occasional insects can be a sign of a functioning ecosystem. Nature works best when its small helpers are doing their part. Save this as a reminder that not all bugs are bad. Via saucydailydose/tt

Flowers! This artwork is macro focused on the color combo that is so amazing in the glowing petals and flower head of the Coneflower. Coneflower or Echinacea purpurea is a spectacular species for the meadow or garden. It is a favorite for bees and butterflies in Summer and one of my favorites to observe and photograph. From bud to bloom to seed head it is a tough plant for all conditions and will bring you stunning moments of natures tight knit relationships in cycle of life.

The Plant That Melts Snow: Nature’s Hidden Reactor Why is this plant melting snow in the middle of winter? The Eastern Skunk Cabbage literally generates its own heat, hitting 20°C (68°F) to create a biological furnace in the ice. This "reactor" uses cellular energy to lure in pollinators while the rest of the forest is frozen solid. How to Make an Easy Bee Boat for Your Garden 🐝🚤 A bee boat is a simple floating platform that gives bees a safe place to drink water without drowning 💧 It supports pollinators during hot and dry days ☀️ Helps keep bee populations healthy 🌼 And improves pollination in your garden 🌱 The result? Stronger plants 🌿 More flowers 🌸 Higher crop yields 🍓 A small effort like this can make a real difference for bees 🐝 And for your entire garden ecosystem 💚🌍

You might have just started to notice a few buzzing bees about the place (or other small pollinators!). Well why not give them a little place to have a drink in the garden? This cute upturned pot and saucer is a great way to ensure bees get a drink without drowning! The stones provide a nice platform for them to take a rest. So easy but effective and cute! #allotment #gardenideas #pollinators #helpthebees #allotmentgarden
