GOI always say "The catskills has its own weather system". The forecasts you see are for the towns and village and certainly not the summits. Hunter Mountain can get snow as late as May.
Overlook Mountain in Ulster County, NY, offers a popular, moderately difficult hike to a fire tower with panoramic views of the Hudson Valley, Catskill Mountains, and Ashokan Reservoir, featuring ruins of the Overlook Mountain House along the way. The trail is a steady, 2.5-mile incline on a wide gravel road, with the fire tower's cab open on weekends and holidays from June to Columbus Day. Hikers should be cautious of timber rattlesnakes, especially in rocky areas, and keep pets leashed.
Trail and Hike Details
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous due to a significant elevation gain (around 1,400 feet).
Trail Type: Out-and-back on a wide, gravel road, making it hard to get lost.
Length: Approximately 5 miles round trip.
Key Features: Ruins of the Overlook Mountain House, a fire tower, and views.

The Overlook Mountain Fire Tower is the newest of the five (eight) remaining fire towers in the Catskill Park, having been built in its present location in 1950. The tower closed in 1988 and was reopened in 1999, making it the first tower to re-open to the public in the Catskills. The 60-foot tower offers incredible views of the Hudson River Valley across to the Berkshires, Taconics and Litchfield Hills, the Ashokan Reservoir and the Devil’s Path Range.

The cliff turned into a gallery wall, and the waterfall became this towering sculpture of ice—blue like glass, with icicles hanging like chandeliers.
