It’s bloom season 🌺 Had so much fun supporting @mindofkye at her Thesis exhibition 🙌🏿
🌼🌿✨ Master of Science in Media Management ✨🌿🌼 — “Don’t let the poison that surrounds you / Stifle out the life you want to live,” — crazy enough, grad school was actually the easiest thing i had to navigate and endure over the last three incredibly painful, challenging, and soul crushing years (and grad school is seriously hard AF so it’s been... A LOT.) i enjoyed every second at @thenewschool and i am SO grateful for the positive space and creative freedom it provided me to ✨level up✨. Also stoked to rep as a #FirstGeneration college student 🤘 • #NewSchoolGrad
#Repost @mindofkye (@get_repost) ・・・ Opened yesterday’s exhibition with @zunyda creating waves down 13th street in Mind Of Kye 💫 She’s wearing a fitted vest made completely out of copper and Cowrie Shells, denim jeans combined with blankets and corduroy, finished off with a bucket bag made of pleated denim , Blurring the lines between couture and everyday wear while simultaneously representing Jersey’s cultural Renaissance . In other words, this is how you end 4 years of fashion school 🌟. Stop by today between 11 & 4 pm to experience the rest of the exhibition ! ❤️ #Jersey #CowrieShells #Hueman #mindofkye #newschoolgrad
Congratulations Parsons Scholars Class of 2019! 🎓 ••••••••••• 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨
Class of 2019 🎓 graduated with my BA in Food Studies. With honors (3.9GPA b*tches!!) 🌟 . Two years ago, I traded in my social life for a degree with a mission to figure out how to drive positive social change & build a sustainable future 🌎 . School was never my thing. But getting to apply everything I learned directly to our business while collaborating with the most brilliant minds at a university that encouraged us to think differently changed that tremendously. . I’m forever grateful for this experience and for everyone who encouraged me along the way 🙏 💜 . &&& thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes! I was buried in finals & postponed my 30th birthday (I can do that, right?) . #newschoolgrad #newschoolalumni
the fact that i’ll never take a class at lang or wander around the west village in between classes again makes me want to throw up but I guess it had to end eventually... my parents did everything they could to send me to this school, even when it seemed actually impossible and that is not lost on me. i’ve cherished my weird and wonderful time here and i’ll keep it in my pocket forever ❣️
Went to Parsons to see Annika and Carl in other artist's senior projects
My bae closing the show🎉🎉🎉

Talk about an inspiration. The real definition of an A1 Day 1. I've been there for every graduation from Pre-K, to middle school, to high school, to undergrad, to your Master's. Never once folded and always been a voice of reason and told me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear. I'm so proud of you Court and I can't wait to see how you take the world of media by storm. Congrats on your Masters in Media Management! ————————— #TalkToHerNice #BossBabe #graduationphotoshoot #BlackGirlMagic #NYC #nycphotographer #NewSchoolGrad #MediaManagement #BlackGradsMatter #StevieGPhotography #GraduationPhotography #PortraitPhotography #NikonPhotography #BookMe #DMVPhotographer #BaltimorePhotographer

I love you so much @irnhrdz and we are all so proud of you. #graduate #empoweredwoman #shebeattheodds 🙌

“Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre” • • (Swipe for surprise) In 6th grade our teacher gave us a project of “what we wanted to do when we grew up” to present in front of our class and parents. I remember thinking that I wanted to be a singer BUT I also loved acting...so, as soon as I got home, I looked up in Google “careers where you can sing and act”...and the first option that showed up was: “Musical Theatre: a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, and dance.” There, I was hooked. That became my goal. I knew it was going to be a little tough because there’s almost little to no formal education in this area in Venezuela, but I still kept my hopes high. • • Year after year I tried to perform everywhere that I could. I managed to be a part of great (and not so great) shows, I had one of the best jobs working for a choir that I deeply adore (@arpegiocoro ), did shows here and there, went to performing arts camps in the US every summer to learn more, moved to New York at 18, went to AMDA and got my conservatory diploma in Musical Theatre, worked a little more in shows, went back to school to finish my B.F.A and now this! • • I truly can’t believe that I can finally cross off this goal. I know I’m just “formally” starting my career but I think that, today, I’ll allow myself to be very happy about this achievement... because I feel that the 12 year old girl who looked up careers in her computer is damn proud. • • I can’t thank my family, friends, bf, colleagues, and everyone who ever said something encouraging enough for helping me in this journey. I love you all so much and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. • -let life beginnnnn- • PS: The video is our 6th grade presentation. We sung “We Are the World” because we had spoken of the people we wanted to be in this world when we were older. (Gracias @cristina_thimotheo por encontrar esto!!) #nicebracesformoi

omg why is everyone wearing the same outfit as me, why are y’all so obsessed with me? 🙄
Hello. My name is Najee. Your friendly poet, educator, facilitator (who doesn’t respond to calls or texts) 🙈. This is me🙋🏽♂️. In front of The New School. 57 min ago. Where 500 University Settlement Staff gathered to discuss cultural sustainability, healing, unity, and more. I had the pleasure of sharing space with fellow warriors, who are in the trenches working with communities of elders, youth, immigrants, & families— & who truly have a heart for community. Today, we talked talent & heart. embracing flaws & advocacy. death & life. mother’s, friends, and activists. Most important, we talked about creating space: for passion, collaboration, & healing. Some people ask me ... what I do? To that, I usually say 🤷🏽♂️. Some days I’m this. Some days I’m that. Today, I create space. & for that, I’m grateful. Swipe 👉🏽 to see that magic that happened over a 90min workshop on LEGACY... from start to finish. Happy Friday 🙏🏽
the real academics!
so... do the care packages stop now that I’m graduated?

Maybe it’s the nature of business school but my relationship to grad school was a bit transactional -with me viewing it as a means to an end. I loved contending with ideas with classmates but school (and more precisely school work): meh. And then I had the privilege of falling in love with Isake while she was in her masters program at the New School. Getting to behold her as a student and more importantly as a scholar and LEADER has given me a newfound appreciation and perspective for what grad school can be. Getting to see first hand how seriously she took the concepts in her program, really contending with them, seeking to understand what it would means for real people -black women in particular- in the workplace. Witnessing her literally pour herself into the writing of her thesis -picking a difficult but timely topic that means so much to her and the work she seeks to do in the world: diversity fatigue, white fragility, and a way forward for organizations looking to make diversity and equity a meaningful part of their work. Conventional intelligence is a luck of the draw, so I don’t put much stock in it. But people’s work ethic, their commitment to the quality of their work, not because of grades but because they know the world needs their voice. Watching Isake not just excel but rise in her grad program, only deepened the incredible admiration I have for her. It’s only affirmed that she is indeed by better half. Hard work doesn’t always guarantee it will be noticed or even that you will be rewarded for it. But I’m glad the faculty of the Milano program agreed with me and awarded Isake the Outstanding Student Award for her Non-Profit management. So join me in congratulating Isake Khadijah Smith, member of the New School centennial class, on a job well done!
Graduation 🎓 Day one!
I made it 👩🏻🎓

I have successfully scammed another degree from a PWI (predominately white institution) at a 75% discount WHILE working on my pilot for the last year. all is right in the world. I’m officially done with my masters degree and school in general, like I’m never going back ever again lol.
Graduated with my MFA all thanks to Day Moon no thanks to Basil!!!!
