I haven’t knit anything in years. I remember learning how to knit from @lemkeke in the Mug back in college. Anyway. We were at Michael’s the other day picking up gifts and I told Ken to pick out some yarn and I would knit him a scarf. As we debated colors, AJ pulled this yarn off the shelf and squeezed it, wouldn’t let it go. Of course it was one of the expensive ones 😂 I decided I’d turn it into a cute little baby scarf and a few days later and it’s done. This is a much better way to keep my hands and mind busy than scrolling through Facebook. I need to up my knitting skills, I pretty much only know the basics, anyone out there knit and have some favorite resources? #knitting #fashionbaby #rainbowyarn #woolscarf
Why would I eat greens any other way ever again? Chard sautéed in olive oil, garlic, “miso butter” (made from chickpea miso and vegan butter), and red pepper flakes. I went to bed with a migraine and woke up with it still there. I forced down my overnight oats and laid in bed drinking coffee and convincing myself to get dressed. It was cold enough down here that I had to break out the wool base layer tights and thickest wool socks, which also added to my dread of getting out the door. The first few miles with cold muscles and a headache were rough. But after I got used to breathing in the cold, fresh air, the everyday magic of running did its thing: my headache slowly faded, my legs warmed up, my head cleared, and I was once again grateful that my hobby gets me up and out of bed, even on a frigid, migraine morning. I am glad I didn’t post the whiny “why do I run?!” story that I considered, and instead just walked out the door. Not the most gorgeous but definitely the most delicious. Continuing on through #runfastcookfasteatslow and made Wild Rice pancakes tonight. Topped with @kitehillfoods chive and onion dairy free cream cheese and smoked salmon. We also topped with hot sauce. They were super satisfying and easy. Also I had no idea wild rice was a protein source. Much needed after a very tough tempo run this morning and an early flight tomorrow morning. Also yes that’s a slice of lemon on AJ’s plate because Ken had one in his water and AJ is obsessed with lemons. Strange child. #dairyfree #eattherainbow #runlikeamother
Maybe my 2 favorite ornaments 🎄I will never again make apologies for joy or be too cynical or cool to love this time of year out loud. That phase happened to coincide with a very lonely, unhappy time in my life where I didn’t like anything, anyone, or even myself very much. Christmas/winter time is the best. I love all the cooking and sharing meals, finding just the right gift to make someone smile and feel loved, warm drinks, fires, pajamas.🎄
