“The attitude of gratitude is the highest yoga.” ~Yogi Bhajan 🙏🏼
Can't ever get enough of these tropical greens 😍
Getting friendly with the locals... 😉 (Check out our upcoming retreats to see what you could experience in Thailand and India!)
As soon as you touch down in Thailand you'll notice these spirit houses everywhere. They're at each home and even the properties of big companies and are thought to house the spirits of the place. Every morning people will make some small offerings to thank the spirits and keep them happy. Even if you don't believe in the protection of the spirits the houses can still serve as a reminder to pause and feel grateful for where you are!
"Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family." ~Kofi Annan . . This is the primary school in the village of Mae Taeng, Thailand where we work supporting the community with free health clinics and education. This is where it all starts! When we first began bringing in dentists to clean teeth, the students had never been to the dentist before and were a little skeptical of what was going on. Now when we do dental clinics the kids are pros, happy to hop in the dentist chair and even telling the dentists and hygienists if they have pain or teeth that are giving them problems.
"Yoga is invigoration in relaxation. Freedom in routine. Confidence through self-control. Energy within and energy without." -Ymber Delecto What's your favorite yoga quote?
“You cannot always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside.” –Wayne Dyer
There is so much beauty found in Thailand - from elaborate flower decorations to glittering golden temples - but the truth is there's a lot of darkness too. The members of the community we work with aren't considered Thai citizens - even if they've lived in the country they're entire lives - because they come from a Burmese background or are part of the Akha hilltribe. Without citizenship, they don't get the same access to education or healthcare as others and we regularly hear stories of people being refused important health treatment. Because of this, we're making an ongoing effort to maintain an Emergency Relief Fund to help cover urgent care costs when a family in one of our communities is in dire need. Looking back at this wonderful group and feeling the beach call our name again...
The famous Thai smile starts early...
Our partner school in Jaipur is located deep inside a slum where the main occupation is picking and sorting the city's trash. There used to be running water inside the slum but several years ago there was a break in the main lines and they’ve still yet to be fixed. Now, most of the daily water is pulled from a nearby polluted stream. With the help Berkey Water Filters, we've installed water filters at the school as well as a large system that faces outward from the school gate so it’s easily accessible for the rest community. Next January we'll be returning to Jaipur with volunteers on a Seva Yoga Retreat to set up more of these clean water systems as well as lessons on water and hygiene safety...come join us! . . . #yoga #yogalove #yogaeverydamnday #yogalife #yogi #yogaeverywhere #yogainspiration #yogagirl #yogapractice #yogaeveryday #yogajourney #india #incredibleindia #jaipur #passportforapurpose #volunteer #dogood #traveldeeper #travelstoke #bbctravel #lptravel #thetravelwomen #seva #yogamour #yogamourglobal
“The study of asana is not about mastering posture. It’s about using posture to understand and transform yourself.” –B.K.S Iyengar
Yes, this dreamy shot is real and you could see it for yourself by joining our New Year Volunteer Yoga Retreat in northern Thailand travelling through Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao and Pai!
Whenever we're in India we're amazed by the beauty, architecture, culture and people...then when we're in Thailand we feel the same...and the same when we're in Myanmar too! We're so grateful to be based in a region that always serves as a source of inspiration!
We've always loved this shot of students' shoes outside their classroom in the village of Mae Taeng that we work without just outside of Chang Mai. Even when things get complicated, thinking about the students we've met and continue to support make everything worth it!
We host free dental, vision and general health clinics in the communities we work with in Thailand, India and Myanmar, thanks to the monetary support and sheer manpower of volunteer doctors, nurses and helpers. If you have skills you want to share, please get in touch! 🙏🏼
