Not to knock a good photo of everyone smiling at the camera, but THIS!!!! So much love in a beautiful moment while this family learns how to grow from 3 to 4 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ It's one of my favorites from their session and so of course one of their 3 Christmas card options! There's still a LITTLE time left to fit in a session for Holiday cards and gifts (album for the grandparents, check!) Drop me a line! 😉
I have such a hard time tooting my own horn... But I am pretty proud & excited to be an honorable mention in the 2017 @cgproprints portrait contest! 😮😄🎉 A little background I included for the photo: "We had planned all day to go to the beach when my husband got home. But as we drove to Thomas point, the clouds began to gather. By the time we arrived, there was a slight breeze and the sun was completely hidden, but the water was warm from the sun and the tidal rivers that flowed around us as they joined the ocean. Adelaide sat down in the warm water and gazed thoughtfully past me as she slipped into one of her elaborate imaginations. I love her creative soul and the soft light we found at the ocean that overcast evening."
A little brotherly love to warm this chilly night 😂 Photographing older children is a little out of my comfort zone (I'm so used to babies and children my daughters' ages!) However, I love a new challenge and I love spending time with this family. I'm so glad they were comfortable enough to be themselves! To me, this is a perfect picture to go with the more classic poses in their album, so one day their grandkids can laugh with them about how silly they were when they were young 😉
This time change makes it HARD to fit in golden hour sessions! Why do we want sunset at 4:30 again 🙄? On that note, I have limited space for some last minute family sessions...and I decided to offer seasonal bundle with holiday cards! Because at this point, the easier the better, right? #dontaskmehowmanydaystillchristmas #idontwanttoknowyet
Three years and two hours ago I was just about to meet my Cecelia. The nurses and doctors were rushing around because my slow labor suddenly went into overdrive and they barely got me admitted and in a room in time 🙄 She was 9 days late, which was driving me totally bonkers... basically setting a precedence for her behaviour out of the womb. I love her to distraction and she often drives me to it as well 😂 Happy Birthday to my wild, fearless, amazing, beautiful girl. You are so loved. ❤️ PS I knit the hat, both my girls wore it as newborns. AND some of Cecelia's party is on my stories today (no surprise, haha) 😄
Her little feet and that sleepy smile! Totally smitten with this little one and the beautiful bedroom her parents put together while they waited for her arrival.
In less than 2 weeks, my Cecelia turns 3! She's one of the most opinionated and stubborn children I know... much like her mama was (or in all honesty, still can be 😏) She is full of contradictions; so strong and independent one moment, clinging to me the next, and is alternately her sister's best friend and worst enemy. She drives us all crazy...but we can't imagine life without her. I want the time to pass slowly but it keeps rushing on in the same frenzied way. Every night at bedtime, she asks "Mama, can I play with your hair a little bit?" as she starts to gently twine her little fingers through my hair. I'll keep saying yes as long as she keeps asking. ❤️
A little #fbf to 3 years ago when I was pregnant with Cecelia and Adelaide was pretending to grow a blanket wrapped baby (Tiny the pteranadon) in her belly. Now Cecelia is almost this size 😭😭😭 Grateful for having photos like these to help remind me of her old favorite play themes. Forgetting the little things would be the hardest burden to bear. #momproblems
I started editing this weekend's family session and could hardly wait to share! Daphne wasn't quite sure how she felt about me for a while, but I was in love with these sisters from the get-go 😍
There are so many things I love about this photo, but one of the best parts was making it. I photograph younger children most often, BUT my cousin is a SENIOR this year...seriously feels crazy, I was in HS when he was born 😭! I can't even remember the last time we spent over an hour alone together, so it was great to just walk around chatting, pausing here and there in pretty light for photos. Which is pretty much what I do with everyone because I'm a chatter 😉. This session left me with a full heart. Family is EVERYTHING (and so is that dimple!!!)
I think we all need a big dose of this today.
The school schedule always gets me thinking about priorities. (Because there simply isn't time for everything!) When I'm not spending time with my own family, my happy place is getting to know and taking photos of other's families. It's always been one of my favorite things to look at old photos of myself, my parents, and even my grandparents. There's something so satisfying about feeling connected to the past. It's one of my passions to help others experience that in this digital age. Take photos, be present in your family's photos, and PRINT photos...a file on the computer is no substitute to physically holding a print. #printwhatmatters
Where I would have loved to spend today...but, work. Feeling grateful to finish early and have a few unexpected hours to play at home with my wild ladies today. Balancing working weekends and family time is no joke, friends.
Perfect fall day today at last. ☀️🍃🍁 If you could choose, how would you spend this breezy, sunny day? Wishing I could spend the day with my loves near the water. Tomorrow's my day at home with this wild child, hoping for another gorgeous one.
So happy and grateful to have this family in our life. One of the hardest things about being a working parent is wondering how your child is doing all day and trusting another to care for them; Heather and her family make that the easiest part for me instead. I always know my daughters are loved and are taught by example how to be a kind, respectful, thoughtful person. 💓 #priceless
It doesn't get much better than being able to shoot a session with your cousin (technically biologically half-sister since our dads are identical twins 😉) her awesome hubs and their adorable, spirited 1.5yo...not to mention the location was gorgeous, weather was perfect, and she brought her own beautiful heirloom quilt that belonged to her great Grammie, Winifred (who happens to be the inspiration for her stationary design Co, @winifredstudios, check it out 😍) Basically, a good reminder of all the things I love best about this #dreamjob : love, light, laughter, and a smidge of family history. Thanks for having me, guys, I love you!
