A BIG WIN!! SO HAPPY TONIGHT 💙
This is the year that blew everyone away. @k@kingcyru5 went as Barack and @gradynyc_ went as Michelle Obama and @t@timmy2ty and I went as their Secret Service detail. This was 4 days before his first election so the Obamas were outright celebrities. Our family did some canvassing the month before (keeping in spirit) and the kids only answered to Barack and Michelle. For the only time in my life, I understood what celebrities go through. We could barely walk down the street without people grabbing for Barack & Michelle and asking for pictures. We were on the evening news and had the best night ever. Thankfully, Obama went on to lead our country for two terms. Hope you enjoyed our Halloween journey through the years.
This was our last year celebrating Halloween as a family. The kids realized that most kids don’t dress up and march in the Halloween parade with their parents but instead go out trick-or-treating with friends. The costumes were simple and @timmy2ty and I held on to as many memories as we could knowing it was the end of an era.
Probably one of my favorite Halloweens. We went as Lounge Singers (or Gladys Knight & The Pips). @kingcyru5 mustache took the cake for best prop of the night. @gradynyc_ walked in the Halloween Parade in a kitten heel for nearly two miles and never complained (we bribed her with candy...whatever works). And that Afro, was my life as a kid.
This was our most conceptual Halloween ever. Lady Gaga and her Little Monsters took me more than 2 months to pull together but once we put on those costumes, it all came to life. @gradynyc_ killed it as Gaga and her littlest monster @kingcyru5 had us laughing all night long.
This was a very fun year and a step back in time to the Awesome 80’s. Boy George, MC Hammer, Tina Turner and Michael Jackson all made appearances. We literally played 80’s music, watched old MTV videos and taught @gradynyc_ & @kingcyru5 all the cool 80’s lingo (Gag me with a spoon).
It was all about KISS in Year 3. The fact that @timmy2ty painted all of our faces (which took 3+ hours) was amazing. We spent a month listening to KISS songs and watching videos so that everyone could “play” their part.
Year 2 was scaarrrryyy as we all went as classic horror movie characters. Frankenstein and his bride, The Werewolf & Count Dracula made for quite the Monster Mash. We even taught @kingcyru5 & @gradynyc_ the song Monster Mash which they sang.
Our first Halloween as a family. This was the first of 8 Halloweens that @gradynyc_ & @kingcyru5 put up with our shenanigans to go all out for Halloween. As they no longer will entertain dressing up in costumes, we’ll have to settle for memories. More to come.
Throwback Thursday @kingcyru5 @gradynyc_ I can’t believe this was more than 11 years ago. How time flies. Love you both ❤️❤️
