Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our nation's freedom, we honor the courageous Aggies that dedicate or have dedicated themselves to preserving freedom for all of us!
LTC Clint Cody '99, B-1 Squadron Commander for 1-6 CAV and CW4 Bob Phillips '99, A-1 Senior Warrant and Standardization Pilot for 1-6 CAV, before Cody's last flight as Squadron Commander stationed at Fort Riley, KS.
Today we remember with gratitude the former members of the Corps of Cadets who gave the ultimate gift for our country and for each of us. Memorial Day is a day to remember them in our prayers. We also need to remember the loss suffered by their families. Fly your U.S Flag today at half-staff until noon and then raise it to full staff for the rest of the day. At 3:00 p.m. participate in the “National Moment of Rememberance” and pause and reflect upon the members of our military who have died for us. Memorial Day has its roots in the practice of women decorating the graves of their loved ones who had died in the Civil War and was originally called Decoration Day. The “Birthplace of Memorial Day” was Waterloo, New York. A great tribute we can pay to our fallen Aggies would be to place flowers on their graves. On this day let each of us revive our patriotism, love for our country, and strengthen our loyalty to each other by remembering the Aggies that gave their lives for our country.
