Apparently this didn't post yesterday... #imaludite but instead of making you wait a week, we'll make it a #technicaldifficutiestuesday . . . #mechanicsmonday today is #allaboutthatbutt we're going to work the side #butt muscles, ones we need to stabilize the knee and pelvis, especially in single leg balances like #treepose . . You can do this on a block or a stair or a step stool or a particularly sturdy friend. The biggest key is to keep your weight in the HEEL of the leg you are working. And feel free to make #sassyteenager faces. . . Give these a shot before you work on things like standing balances, or even #chairpose and see if you can feel your #glutes primed and ready to do their job. . . Eight years ago in February, I returned from this CRAZY adventure into myself in the motherland of #india . . While I was there @sarahvirginiawj found this crazy magical mystic in the city that she kept telling me about. You'll love her, and this in depth curriculum she's developed... It's right up your alley. . The second day back in the US, I stopped by @studioanya and @courtneybaueryoga took me in. She gave me a job, she trained me in #pilates and shared with me her lifetimes of understanding of bodywork and healing- she offered me a home and a community and to this day lives in my knowledge and passion and teaching as one of the greatest influences I've had. She taught me who #rumi was 🤯. . The space I waked into, on the 8th floor, is closing 8 years later... That's no coincidence. I'm so thankful for it's walls, though they have changed over the years, it's people - many of whom have come and gone, but are still in my life, it's lessons - some not so easy or fun... The mistakes I've made there, the space it's held for me to do better and the life I've built. . I won't miss that incredibly slow elevator 😂🤣🤷🏼♂️

Last week we went through that #frustrating process of looking at the #level and #camber (look that one up) of the pelvis. In so many #yoga shapes we are lead seek out a shape, and in order to find it we make #modifications - In truth, the more sophisticated process is to seek feelings in the body. . . So slow down and try this out. Place your index fingers on your frontal hip points. Your Anterior Superior Iliac Spine. #asis your thumbs will find divots above and closer to the midline. . . As you settle down into the legs of your warrior pose, explore the two options shown: dipping your 'back' hip to find greater range of motion AND try keeping your hips level in both directions (your fingers are your benchmarks) You will have lesser ranges but MORE #engagement . . . So great to see my sister and her family... Including my first two nephew-pugs and my the subsequent real boy nephews. I'm pretty lucky to have such a great relationship with my sister, even if she does blow up my phone every time I'm home with her munchkins... Like, every ten minutes 'are they alive, are you alive, where did they pee, how much did he eat, do you think he's suffering from existential dread...' . . . But over the years, @j.knowles9614 and I have become pretty good friends... And I'm thankful for that and her. . . . She's pretty lucky to have me too. I'm an amazing Uncle and World Class Brother.
