Trying to finish up my Pine Burr pillow from my class at QuiltCon last week. So nice to be in my studio again after a 4 month hiatus.
Yay! Just found out this morning that my quilt made it into the traveling exhibit for the Cherrywood Van Gogh challenge! It will even travel to France for a quilt show. I'm just so excited to be able to participate this way - I'm shouting it from the rooftop. Eek! #cherrywoodchallenge #vangoghchallenge #vangoghcherrywoodchallenge #imaquilterinthecloset
These borders are taking forever! I feel like I've been working on this quilt for a year. And there are enough loose threads all over the place, I might be able to make a second quilt or at least stuff a large pillow. #aviatrixmedallionquilt #wwqgpresidentschallenge #imaquilterinthecloset
Feeling frustrated. I just finished up a handful of these star blocks for a guild BOM project. Several of the squares I received to make the HSTs were cut too short (3/8s too short with no trimming room). Instead of putting them back in the bag and turning them in undone, I thought to myself, "hey, I can make it work with a little creative seam allowance magic". It didn't go well. My blocks are still short and worse some are barely square. If I was making the full quilt myself I would just ease in the bigger ones and quilt any slight waves out. Should I say anything? I'm probably not the only person who had this problem. Maybe everyone's blocks will be short.
Time to get back to this project, but I gotta tell ya - if I had done this center block first, I might have quit. Despite careful pinning and pressing, I had to redo some of these diamonds a couple of times and it is still a bit wavy. Thought several times during the process about creating a paper pieced version so it would be more accurate but I had already cut all the fabric. #aviatrixmedallionquilt #imaquilterinthecloset #wwqgpresidentschallenge
First harvest of figs! The girls and I will be making jam tomorrow.
