Hey @docgovtnz, I spotted a pair of little blue penguins by the historic ferry terminal in Wellington. Think they might have a nest in the rocks here?
Point Dorset/Fort Dorset feels ways away from Wellington even though it's just a short drive from the airport. Forming the Eastern edge of Seatoun, if offers a wonderful mix of enjoyable walks, beautiful views, and living history. #lovewelly #ShareMeWLG #NZlife #Optoutside
First time to #burgerliquor , a Wellington staple. Featured are the Shia Le Beef and the Double Standard with a side of curlies (first time I've found curly fries in New Zealand!). Everything was fantastic! Not pictured but equally delicious was the chocolate shake. We'll be back for sure! #NZlife #lovewelly
It's #nationalparkweek in the U.S. so to celebrate, I'd like to share a photo I took at #craterlake a few years ago. My wife and I had gone there one random weekend on the winter, trying to take advantage of a narrow good weather window, to do some snow camping. An 8+ hour drive from Seattle, it wasn't exactly the closet weekend getaway spot but we were moving overseas in a few months and wanted to check this park off our list. We arrived right at noon on Saturday, checked in with the rangers and started snow shoeing to where we wanted to camp that night. Once we got about 1/4 mile away from the parking lot, we pretty much had the park to ourselves. With a refreshed blanket of snow covering the ground and trees, the scenery would've made postcards jealous. One we arrived at a suitable camping spot we began to set up and while doing so, we were treated to some of the most spectacular winter sunset colors you have ever seen. This picture was taken right before the sun dipped below the horizon behind us. Funnily enough, we ended up not camping as my stove refused to light, preventing us from cooking and replenishing our water. We packed up and walked back to our car (which was about 2 miles away) under a beautiful carpet of stars and drove back to the nearest town to find a hotel and food. We couldn't have spent more than 6 hours total in the park, but both then and now we rate it as one of our best U.S. National Park trips that we've taken. #findyourpark #NPS #Optoutside #takeahike
