In the habit of staring at cloud-covered valleys🌲⛰ @jillingterraces
Stumbling over pine cones, covered in leeches and leaves, we arrived at our solitary home for the weekend- one of the Apple orchard terraces that is now an experiential stay. It comes with a view of the valley from its very rooms and dining area. Conceptually, @jillingterraces is a rustic B&B tucked away on a hill top that’s inaccessible by road. It has a massive dining hall where everyone eats together, a fireplace in the corner, a bookshelf and a grand collection of board games. It had been a while since I had felt this close to nature, and living there, amidst the sights, sounds and smells of the hills in a cottage far removed from the world, made my inner hermit dance with joy. 🌲
On our second day at @jillingterraces we went for a hike that scared the life out of us, but was so invigorating because it was along one of the lesser used trails. It was a walk in the wilderness, among shrubs and flowers and insects.. and a trail that was basically just a straight fall into the valley (there was nothing on our left).. hidden, luckily, by a thick layer of mist. Our guts were in our mouths the entire time, but I’d say it was worth the experience!
Friends that take off down the unexplored path with you are the best kind 👣 Catching up over laughs on misty evenings at @jillingterraces. A hike, a friend and some rain 🌲
Heeey, people who wanna discover themselves through travel! STOP IT. Don’t do it. Traveling is the shiny new toy of our generation, and everyone wants to jump on that wagon. But before you do, read the article on why you shouldn’t travel if you want to discover yourself (Link is in the bio!) straight from the horse’s mouth, and actually stay put and create the lives you love. Sounds like the opposite of everything you wanna hear, I know. And sorry to crush your hopes and dreams, but I travelled a lot lesser this year and I haven’t regretted it at all. Actually, I’ve loved it. Give it a read- I do make some valid points, I promise.
