#thankfulthursday ... Today’s post is about gratitude. This is a picture of my Papi’s hand. I snapped this yesterday when we were at the doctor’s office bc I was noticing my father is aging and it’s visible in his hands (and his memory lol). I was noticing how hairy he is (that’s who I get it from 🙄), and then thinking how much I love his hands. How unconditional his love is, and how protected I feel in his presence. • I’ve been dealing with some health issues lately (hence my inconsistency on the gram- I needed a break). Yesterday when I got to FL, Papi accompanied me to the doctors and held my hand when I had to get shots. As silly as it sounds that a 30+ year old woman is still scared of shots, it’s still my reality, and this hand pictured here got me through when I felt scared and in pain. • I’m so thankful for my family, my support system, and my parents who are growing older and one day will not be here to get me through hard times. So I’m showing them all my gratitude now while I still have them. #mipapi
Stepping into this week like... • 5 more days to vacation officially begins! 🤗🤗 • I have a lot to get done before I can officially relax though. So my motivation this week is getting what I need to get done so I can truly relax and enjoy my vacation. I’m taking this week on full force and setting the tone on this Monday. What are some things you want to accomplish this week? Let me know below. #motivationmondays
Throwback Thursday: Young Melly 😂🤣❤️. • The first time I saw this pic was when my Abuela Adriana passed in summer 2015. We went to D.R for the memorial and afterwards we all went to my cousins house to celebrate her life together. Mi tía tenia una caja that belonged to Abuela, and she opened it for the first time and shared it with all of us together. It was a beautiful moment to bond over Abuela’s memories. Inside were tons of letters & pics of different people. Memories she saved through her life. This picture was in that box. Funny thing is, I had never seen this picture & I can’t remember it lol. My parents didn’t have this pic in the house (I have no clue why 😂🤷🏽♀️). So I look at this picture and think 1) I have no clue how old I was in this pic and whether I spoke English yet 😂. And 2) it always makes me think of Abuela and how much she loved me. How much she loved all her grandchildren. A different relationship with all of us.
Filter fun to end this nutty Monday. • #freshhaircut by the oh so fabulous @donateladevacurl at @curlsoneonone . This woman’s hands are magic! She knows how to give my hair life. She cuts it perfectly to give it shape but still trying to keep the length since I’m trying to grow it out. If you’re in L.A or ever visiting, I HIGHLY recommend going to see my girl. I love her and the ladies at the salon; they make everyone feel like family. 😘 #curlyhairgang
Hold up, hold up, hold up. My baby is a preteen today! 😩 • Happy 12th Birthday to my first son, my God son, Emil. My Puti, I love you beyond words and beyond limits. I am so proud of the young man you are growing into. You already know how deep my love runs for you, even on your most annoying day 😂😂😘. #cancerseason @sashi1030 • Swipe left to see some of my favorite pics of my God son. ❤️ • P.S. totally jealous of his eyebrows and lips. Lol 😂🤷🏽♀️
“I got to talk to God even though He isn’t near me, based on what I got, it’s hard to think He don’t hear me.” • #fbfriday Me & my little Papi on Noche Buena. Doesn’t he have the sweetest face ☺️😘. When he was younger I used to bite his cheeks and when I would forget he would remind me too 😂😂🤷🏽♀️. • And check out how different my curls were 6.5 months ago 😱. #hairgrowth #curlyhairgang
Current mood! Today is a half day at work and tomorrow we’re off. Woot! Planning on laying out by the pool tomorrow with a nice cocktail. • Today’s post is dedicated to my #wanderlusts . This was about two weeks ago in London when I was roaming around Hampton Court Palace. I was so happy to be back in London and spending the day with some of my closest friends. The beauty of travel is that you get to make friends all over the world. #traveltuesday 📷: @sflowerday1
Happy Monday from me and my pajon. • This is a weird week with half days and holidays and then work again (lol), so I’m trying to figure out a way to stay focused. My Monday morning already started off super nutty which included me leaving my laptop at home and having to turn around after getting to work. 😑 Needless to say, I need some tips on getting my focus together. Any tips? Anyone else feeling a little out of whack today?
Happy Sunday from sunny aka (hot af) Los Angeles lol. It feels so good to be home with my boys. We went out to the courts this morning and I damn near melted lol. • How cute is this shirt though? I love supporting small businesses, especially those that empower others. Check out @little_with_big_curls line of #staycurly and rep your city.
Proof that the sky is NOT the limit, it’s only another destination. • After my two weeks of running around Europe, I’m finally back home with my boys where u belong. I have a tendency to take a lot of airplane pics when I fly bc 1) God’s art work never seizes to amaze me despite the amount of times I’ve seen it. And 2) bc it’s the best reminder that I’ve been to the sky several times, so this can’t possibly be the limit. There are no limits and these types of pics serve as my reminder. • Happy Saturday, mi gente. Remember, nothing is impossible. There are no limits, only the ones we create for ourselves. What are your belief systems about limits? #traveldiaries2018 #myotherhome #skyhigh
It’s my last night in Budapest and I’m enjoying a nice dinner by myself at the cutest restaurant. Live music, great food, and elder infused prosecco 😃😋; this is the perfect end to this trip. If you’re ever in Budapest, I highly recommend checking out @zellerbistrobudapest .
Greetings from the window seal/ seat in my hotel in beautiful Budapest lol 😜. • This is my 3rd country I’ve been to in the last week and a half of my European voyage. As much fun as traveling can be, it can also be exhausting. I’m SO grateful for nice & comfortable hotels that have all the amenities I would have at home (plus some), and great friendly service. S/o to the @intercontinental . • This is the first time since I chopped off my hair and “went natural” that I’ve had to do a wash day outside of the comfort of my home. I was a little anxious, but it turned out well! I even used the steam room to deep condition my hair 😂 🧖🏽♀️. I had to get creative. 🤷🏽♀️ • This is Day 3 hair and I’m pleased how my curls are holding up. S/o to one of my favorite curly hair influencers, @brandirell for her tip on how to refresh our curls without making it look like we got a jerry curl 😂😂. The front of my hair was mad frizzy this morning but the rest looked great, so I used her tip of refreshing with product only and NO water on the front part. These are the results. What do you guys think? • For my curlies, how do you all handle travel and your hair? For my travelers, what do you guys do when traveling for an extended period of time and you start feeling homesick? Any tricks to normalize long travels? Leave your comments below. And as always, thank for your support. 😘
