Whether you prefer kayaking or paddleboarding, an evening on the water is the perfect way to spend time with your someone special. Try us out for your first date or come and celebrate your wedding anniversary, like the couple in the picture. You'll make great memories that last forever!
The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge was built in 1977 where the Benton Mackaye Trail crosses the Toccoa River. It is arguably the prettiest landmark along the entire trail, the perfect combination of mountains and river, woods and open sky. The forst here is changing as hemlock woolly adelgids continue their devastating attack on trees that have long defined our perception of mountain streams. The canopy is different, the water is different, and the ecology is struggling to adjust. We can only guess at what will happen, and the saga that is unfolding is fascinating (and a little frightening). Right now, the trees, water, and trout are losing the battle. #hemlock #hemlockwoollyadelgid #hwa #toccoariver #mountainstream #bluemind #appalachianmountains #appalachia #northgeorgia #exploregeorgia #adventure #adventuretravel #nature #naturetour #optoutside #getoutside #ecotour #paddleeverywhere
I wish you water like a mountain stream on an Appalachian hillside. This small waterfall near the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is one of my favorite spots in all the world. I love the music of the water cascading over the rocks and splashing into the small pool below. It makes me smile from deep inside my heart. kfpaddle.com #iwishyouwater #bluemind #mountainstream #stream @bluemindworks @exploregeorgia
Take a moment to reflect on your week. Celebrate your successes and figure out what lessons can be learned from your mistakes. Own it all, but don't forget to say, "thank you" to the people who helped you. Live with intent. Be present. Practice gratitude.
Life doesn't always go the way we want it to. For example, I should have seen this sunset from the water with kayaking customers, but troubles with my truck dictated otherwise. It's tempting to be upset, but it's much more satisfying to be grateful for the opportunity to do something unplanned, something I wouldn't have done if not for the thing that "went wrong." I got to ride my bike across the island, sit on a bench at Epworth, reflect on my day, kill a few gnats (much more rewarding than it sounds!) and practice gratitude. The reward for choosing to focus on the opportunity? A sunset as gorgeous as any I'd see from my kayak, a little extra exercise, a peaceful heart, and a lesson in flounder fishing from a man who fought in World War II. (Yes, really - he looked and sounded like he'd seen it all. I believe he had.) The point being: be flexible. Take the downside of something and coast into the upside of something else. Use the momentum to climb a different hill, and don't allow yourself to crash and burn at the bottom. We all have bumps, obstacles, hurdles, and detours. Some have all of these and more. But no matter who you are, each of these things presents us with an opportunity, if we choose to open our eyes and see it. What's the opportunity in your life? Maybe it's only a small reward like a single sunset, but then again, it might be something bigger, like the decision to see your way forward despite the challenges. The thing that matters is what you do next, what you choose to see. May it include a sunset and a chance meeting with an old fisherman. #sunset #kfpaddle #bluemind #bluelove #liveblue
This sunset is the color of my wife's hair. I tried taking a picture of the waves instead of the sunset - we're getting some of the best sets I've ever seen in the Golden Isles - but the light was too low. That's OK, though, because the colors on the horizon were pretty amazing.
The possibilities are endless
Everyone on the water with me said, "WOW!" and we all generally agreed that this sunset genuinely qualified for the word, "awesome." The picture doesn't do it justice. I hope y'all had a great weekend and that at least some of the time was spent in, on, or near water. kfpaddle.com #sunset #sunsetcolors #sunsetour #nofilter #ecotour #adventure #adventuretravel #nature #naturetour #optoutside #getoutside #iwishyouwater #bluemind #bluelove #kfpaddle
How could anyone stay inside on this beautiful day? The only thing to do with a day like this is to get outside and enjoy it! kfpaddle.com #kayaking #ecotour #adventure #adventuretravel #optoutside #getoutside #satillariver #satillariverwatertrail #satillariverkeeper #blackwater #paddling #kfpaddle
