Did you know the most effective deodorant I’ve ever used is…. drum roll please…. lemon juice! Yep, straight up. Squeeze a little on to your hands, slap it on your pits and you’ll be fresh as a daisy till you next shower. I’ve been using lemon juice for years, and I’m not even sure how I found out about it now - it’s highly possible I just gave it a go one day and was pleasantly surprised - that’s how some of my experiments roll. Anyhoo, I like to have options for people to try, because what works for one may not work for another. My homemade deodorant is a mix of bicarb, cornflour (or arrowroot/tapioca etc) & coconut oil BUT some people react badly to the bicarb under their arms. So today I’m experimenting with replacing the bicarb with Diatomaceous Earth and Fullers Earth Clay instead. I’ve actually not sampled these other 2 varieties before, because I haven’t needed to, but seen as I love to be my own guinea pig, I’ve decided to spice up my armpit life and give them a smorgasbord of options. I’ll have these available for people to sample at this Sunday’s Learn to Make Your Own Natural Personal Care Products Workshop (down Mandurah way) and there’s still a couple of spots available (you can book at www.karlahooper.com). If you haven’t tried lemon juice yet - give it a burl. I’ve had people think I was crazy when I told them, until they tried it, and then they became full converts! Why would you even care about making your own and using natural deodorants?? 2 reasons - CHEMICALS & PACKAGING. Both of which can harm humans and the environment. It’s time to take back control of our health and help the environment while we’re at it. The solution is in our hands and starts with us.
