In the air 🎶 Thinking back to the warm and heavy scented night in Old Market town. 🎶 It's easy to imagine a street preformer playing their acoustic guitar under this lush awning as you stroll by belly full from dinner. 🎶 Cub and I are learning to play guitar - it's a long time in coming. [We've had this freebie acoustic for years and it was peanuts to string]. 🎶 Super happy to hear the warm tones strumming through the house. 💛 What have you crossed off your bucket list recently?
Happiness • Just as we were about to head back to the parking lot, the rowers from the race we watched came off the water. • My insta has morphed into sharing a passion for to seeing the natural beauty around you & lifting others up • #JoyfulandMighty started as taking pictures of clouds, sunsets and job sites [and I still do that], but has very few hoo-mans . .... ♡ne of my fav shots ever.
Dragon boat racing ■ It hails from the Pearl River Delta region of China - home of the rice paddies and is steeped in thousands of years of tradition. ■ The races originally coincided with the Summer solstice when rice seedlings were transplanted into paddy fields allowing for wet rice cultivation. ■ The date on races were held is referred to as the "double fifth", since Duanwu is reckoned as the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Often falling in June, occasionally May or July. ■ Here in Mid Florida that would translate into an abysmal time given the extreme heat during that time of year. ■ Love that this is an activity I now associate with Oct here - my absolute favorite time of the year.
We pause our dragon boat ride for a boo-tastic day! 🕸 Happy Halloween
Asian lore 🐲 Despite the wacky Chinese origins stories of the Dragon Boat Festivals [ which vary from region to region ] involving suicide & betrayal. The sport is pretty interesting to me. 🐲 • It's origin is 2,000+ years old • A standard dragon boat has; 18- 20 rowers + a steerer & a drummer for pace 🐲 A few weeks back, I drug the family to Orlando's 15th annual dragon boat races and thoroughly enjoyed watching them. 🐲 Here's a shot of the funky paddles that you use. 🐲 Tell me , what's your favorite tradition?
Japan 🇯🇵 It's #2 on my list. ▪ If you have followed awhile you may recall I had Japanese roommates and have always been fascinated with the design, culture and architecture. ▪ Right here in good ol' Central Florida, is a beautiful homage to the glorious Asian designs, which I finally took decent shots of so I can finish out my picture frames. - Yay! Another thing off my long-running "projects list", even if my travel list hasn't gotten any shorter.. 😄
When Hubbly takes a picture of you taking a sunrise picture. 💙 Happy Monday 💙 💙
Feathers ◾ Nearly all my life I have been fascinated by the shape and ability of feathers. ◾ The way they curl when you run your fingers along them, how they drift on the currents of wind after being uncermionously plucked from the host birds breast, the ability to keep a bird aloft as they slice through seemingly nothing. ◾ As a symbol; to me it represents the ability to choose your own path, to truly be free. ◾ In another nod to fall - here is a community gate that I particularly like. It's rather ironic that this gate keeps certain people out when all I see is "potential" in feathers.
Nature does in one moment what we can seldom truly describe 🔸️ This comes pretty close 🔸️ ... the west o'er-brims with warmest dyes; Its chalice overflows With pools of purple colouring the skies, Aflood with gold and rose; 🔸️
Totally F a l l ♡ This is absolutely my favorite time of year. Central Florida felt "fall like" for about a minute, then back to 90°+ temps while my midwest family was getting high 20's so yeah nice n snowy. ♡ We have lived several places [TN & MA] where fall was completely captivating with great feels and color. I would spend weeks chasing both outdoors after work. ♡ Pumpkins are such a big part of this time of year and I adore them. This one seemed particularly festive. ♡ In lieu of cool weather here's my homage to all the golden trees, fiery oranges and red and even the burnt hues of this amazing time of year. That I Fall in love with over and over again 😘 ♡♡♡ What is your fav thing about falll?
Feeling Fall Moody 🍂 A litany of leaves tango to the tune of your chilly flow, so windblown. 〰️ Moody clouds move silently by in a turbulent silver sky, as windfalls. 〰️ Showing signs of your wrath, the trees, to whipping the waves of the seas, so windswept. 〰️ By; Connie Marcum Wong
It's amazing seeing the ocean at sunrise 😍 (bottom right corner). 🌊 Too bad this is the clouds pretending to be the ocean. 🌊 🤣
Ethereal light Capturing beauty makes me 🎤 〰️ Construction sites are often full of debris, trash and discarded opportunities to work WITH nature rather than ravage and reshape it. 〰️ Sometimes I get the joy of finding a place that captures Nature's essence in amongst the chaos. 〰️ This particular house has an amazing view (despite it being a man made pond). 〰️ Do you think about how to balance among nature & "progress "?
Reach for the sky 💭 Feel free to use the stairs made by this industrious spider 💭 In all seriousness, I think spiderwebs are pretty amazing, even if you don't love spiders. 💭 Patterns & delicacy are spot on ❗ 💭 💭 Hands in the sky if you have a fear of spiders.
🎶Sound off 🎶 🎺 If you have followed me awhile you know that I love Sandhill cranes. 🎺 Last week was a crane paradise. Not sure if it was the slightly cooler weather or the location (it's back to 90°+ this week) 🎺 These 2 were trumpeting to a group that was doing a fly by. 🎺 When I moved here I used to find their call slightly eerie, but I love it now 🎺 What's your favorite animal call? 🎺 🎺
Speaking of dappled sunlight n greenery ♧ Here is the view from a job a week ago ♧ ♧
