Concert night. Name that location. And who are we seeing?
TRACK 2: “Surface of Your Soul” // With this song, I wanted to create something for an ‘introverted dance party’. It is something you can groove along to, but the lyrics are also extremely vulnerable. It’s not just about ‘having a good time’… although some of that lightheartedness can be felt in the music. It also combines my love different genres of music - rock, electronic, symphonic. Sometimes you just have to dance your feelings out! Hope you dig the track. Check it out on Spotify by following the link in my bio. :) JML #ForeverEvergreenStories #JMLong #SurfaceofyourSoul
Track 1: “Lights, Introspection” // the first track on my album is mostly instrumental. I was inspired to create it after reading Haruki Murakami’s excellent book “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End Of the World”. In the book, there is a chapter called “Lights, Introspection, Cleanliness”. As a character is experiencing his last day on earth, he decides to do the most mundane things - like going to the laundromat, wandering the rainy streets of Tokyo, and listening to Bob Dylan. I absolutely loved that. And I love how his chapter titles alone can carry so much meaning. So I decided to create music that would go with this chapter & give it my own Pacific Northwest twist. If you’d like to read this book, DM me and I’ll send you my extremely warn down copy. (Or support your local library.) If you’d like to listen to my song, go to my Spotify and check it out. I think deeply. It’s a blessing and a curse. Yesterday I had some time to kill, so I followed a treacherous* trail down to the water for no particular reason. I played against myself in a rock throwing contest. There were no spectators that I was aware of and the game was rigged from the start. I was doing something simply for the sensation of it! The line between creativity & sport was blurred. I was the only person in the history of the universe to have that exact experience. It won’t be written about in history books. It will just exist in my heart as one more reason to find beauty in the ordinary. And now 40 or so of my one thousand and some IG ‘followers’ will skim through this. And maybe 1-3 will read it. If that is YOU, and you’re not feeling so hot, then please give yourself a break & throw some rocks at something somewhere where no living creature gets caught in the crossfire. I guarantee you will win. JML (*debatable)
Went for a walk with my friend John. He said he liked my melodies and then gave me one of his.
