Chicago Portage National Monument. In 1673, French explorers Louis Joliet and Pere Marquette were the first Europeans to traverse the portage between the Chicago River and the Des Plaines River which linked the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. The abundance of beaver, deer, otter and mink attracted the Voyageurs to the area and establishing Chicago as a French fur trading outpost. #chicago #chicagohistory #frenchnorthamerica #voyageurs #quebec #canoe #illinois #illinoishistory
Off to London for the week. What better way to watch England in the World Cup semifinal than in a proper English pub!!
Tubing on the Salt River. 105F/41C but it didn't feel too hot in the water.
Nice to see some classmates and former professors from the University of Illinois.
