It's funny... usually at this point on previous tours I'd still feel like I have a bunch to go (5km until Cowboy Ridge), but yesterday, this really felt like we were at the end (or at least real close). The day started with a struggle (on Blackcomb), but @rosalangford @turbo.salmon.rocket @maxwellhorner @bstrainor all pitched in and got me going, and we all finished with a pretty fast (and fun) ski out Singing Pass in the dark... with huge smiles all around. Thanks everyone!
Never really understood why we call them pillows... not like anyone ever jumps on, or off of them. Either way, the snow variety is still way fun than the sleep variety. @jazavitz showing he can still have fun at his old age. #skiing #skitouring #pillows #southcoasttouring
Drove to the top yesterday... Does that count as earning your turns?
About 3 weeks ago I had the opportunity to take an old friend out ski touring. It was her first time out and I wasn't going to let garbage conditions stop us. How was the snow? Terrible. Didn't matter, she got hooked and I had a great day skiing. Why the story? This morning was the passing of Warren Miller. I usually try to separate my personal and photography life, but WM influenced both myself and the ski industry so much, I couldn't let it go. So with that, one of his that I still live by to this day: “The best place in the world to ski is where you’re skiing that day.”
