Athabasca falls sketch, taking the opportunity while I'm off work helping to look after my new born. Was going over some pics from some trips we've taken in the last year and came across a few we took around Athabasca falls last July. It's a beautiful spot and the water was very refreshing for a dip on a hot day. With a few bear sightings on the way back to jasper it was a very good day
I've not been able to post much recently, we are v bust with preparing for a move and a new baby but have been working on this panoramic of canmore the past few weeks, it's based on a trip my wife and I had to the mountains in march
Canmore panoramic Carved+burnt on plywood 1.6mx.4m
I've made a piece on the 3 sisters in can more before but I was there for a few days recently and was admiring the scenery and felt like making something new. Mountains are constantly in a state of change so it makes sense to make a few varied pieces of the same peaks to reflect that. Mixed media, collage on paper 27cmx27cm.
The Burren, county clare. Love the drive down to clare when I'm going for a surf. The Burren is a really beautiful landscape. I remember a grim quote I was told years ago that was made by Cromwell's lieutenant general in ireland "not enough water to drown a man, not enough wood to hang a man, and nor enough soil to bury a man" . Sounds like a cheery sort of a lad
I lived here in coolangatta Australia for 3 years, it's a beautiful spot. Loved heading out for a surf or a swim there. Was watching some highlights of the quicksilver pro the other week and felt like making something
Feeling very happy. Some of my artwork has been published in making the cut vol. 1, just received my copy today. If you'd like to get a copy go to https://www.amazon.com/Making-Cut-Vol-1-Collage-Artists/dp/1684183820
As it was st Patrick's day on Friday I've been thinking a lot about my home in galway the past few days. Made this collage sketch of the cathedral there, there's a copper roof on the cathedral that's gone green over time I've always liked the colour and shape of the dome.
Mountain landscape sketch Collage sketch on paper 20cmx20cm
Worked on a study yesterday for a painting I'm planning on. This was only on 20cmx20cm paper will need a much bigger canvas to get more detail and a better effect. Love how haphazard the buildings look perched up on the rocky headland
I made a trip to India back in 2004, was looking through my photos the other day and really wanted to make a sketch of this image of varanasi. It's off bathers at the ganges in the early morning
Working on a big piece at the moment that's going slowly, did this quick sketch of Jackson sleeping last night just to have a mess about with some different methods
