While not one of my better photos, I just had to post! I was just so thrilled to have seen this fellow, after not having seen any moose for quite some time!
Spotted this handsome eagle about a week and a half ago, between Caroline and Innisfail... There was a second one calling but I wasn't able to see it. This fellow graciously posed for a few photos before flying off, perhaps to find his/her mate? #baldeagle #alberta #centralalberta #Albertabirds
Young bull elk splashing about at the edge of the Madison River - he splashed about kicking mud up around himself and then proceeded to get down and roll around in it. We were losing the light and as my camera doesn't handle low light situations well, I turned down the shutter speed and fired off a number of photos hoping to get one or two decent ones. I liked the motion blur of his front leg as he splashed about in the water. #bullelk #wallow #madisonriver #Yellowstone
This little cutie knew I was watching him and was playing peek a boo as he kept an eye on me... He'd peek out from one side the of the tree a few times then scoot around to the other side of the tree and do the same...such a delightful little downy woodpecker! #downywoodpecker #centralalberta #Alberta
As we cross from 2018 into 2019, I wish you a year filled with much peace, good health and happiness. It's been a wonderful year on Instagram and I very much appreciate all your kind words and wonderful support! Happy New year!!!
This is the next photo shot from the one I posted just prior...these two younger bulls had been sparring playful, when the one on the right decided that grazing was more to his preference. The young fellow on the right was giving him a priceless look as if to say 'what...you don't want to play any more??'
It was a whole lot of fun watching these two young bulls practice their sparring in Yellowstone this past September... It wasn't it earnest, but it sure was entertaining. I got such a kick out of those expressive faces... The young fella on the right gave up and began grazing after this photo was snapped. #Yellowstone #bison
Wishing you much Christmas Joy...may you all be surrounded by the love and warmth of family and friends this holiday season, along with many Blessings of health and happiness in the coming New Year. Thank you so much for your kind friendships, you are so much appreciated! 💕
Dashing down the tree, in an all out eager race, gathering up some nuts, at a frantic pace...🎵 I haven't spent much time visiting Peanut lately, other than to dash out and fill his feeder with some nuts and seeds, but it was a joy to see him come flying down the tree to greet me 💕
Had been watching a herd of bison resting for a good hour or so, when this younger bison arose rather stiff-leggedly and started off in one direction and at the last second decided to turn and go in the opposite direction... It was fun watching him get his legs under him! #bison #Yellowstone #yellowstonewildlife #lamarvalley
Made a brief stop over at a friend's, and luckily had brought my camera... I was losing the light, but did manage a photo of this little cutie that was waiting in line to visit their feeder - a male house finch, I believe??
Such a beautiful doe...if only animals could talk... I wonder what happen to her ear.
Wolf 926F - the wolf my husband and I were so thrilled to see, the first wolf we had ever seen in the wild, in Yellowstone, has been shot by a hunter on November 24th. I find it incredibly heartbreaking that Montana promotes the visiting of Yellowstone to experience the incredible abundance and variety of wildlife, and yet the moment this wolf stepped outside the park boundary (and JUST outside) it became fair game under Montana's (Cooke City) laws for hunters to kill her. You cannot imagine the incredible joy Peter and I had, in being able to spend a couple of hours watching this beautiful creature. I cried! I've cried for a wolf that I spent a mere two hours watching. From what I understand, she was shot by a trophy hunter! Very heart-wrenching indeed!!!
