Meet Erica Mattison, Depave’s New Executive Director (see link in bio)!
Ted explains the Watershed Model at Woodmere Elementary School, July 9, 2017.
Asphalt beware. Paradise cometh in a promised land of former parking lots and over-paved spaces turned green, earthy and humane! Depavers and Depave enthusiasts collectively raised $23,167 from almost 200 donors during the 2017 Give!Guide, surpassing our $18K goal and reaching new heights in Depave support. This huge win puts Depave in a potent position to continue to take our vision and impact regional. The Depave re-transformation is expanding, and for that we continue to profusely thank our generous donors, supporters and volunteers. They are truly instrumental in making it happen. Happy New Year to all! #giveguide2017 #giveguide #depaveparadise
Some of our potential 2018 project sites: 1. A parking lot at the Rosewood Initiative, 2. A vacant lot in Rockwood poised to become a community garden, and 3. An over-paved school yard at Kelly Elementary School in Lents. Give to Depave on this last WW GiveGuide Big Give Day (link in bio) and help us transform these places for people, biodiversity, food access, and watershed health! #giveguide2017 #gresham #giveguide #depave #eastportland
Portland was recently ranked among the top 10 major cities with the worst urban heat island (UHI) effect in the United States. Depaving replaces hot pavement with shady trees and plants help cool things off on hot summer days. On this Big Give Day help us depave, regreen & cool off two Portland schoolyards this summer (link in bio)! #giveguide2017 #giveguide #urbanheatisland #urbanheat #urbanheatislandeffect #depave
Trees really make a difference
Between 2013-2015 Oregon was the only state to see an increase in food insecurity and hunger, even as Oregon's economy grew. Depaving to create community gardens is part of the solution. Next year Depave & Outgrowing Hunger will begin depaving a vacant lot to put in a community garden in Gresham’s Rockwood Neighborhood. Help us do more projects like this by donating (link in bio) on this Big Give Day and win prizes at tonight's happy hour, 5:30pm at Vestas lobby (1417 NW Everett)!#giveguide2017 #giveguide #depave #outgrowinghunger #greshamoregon #portlandoregon #greenspaces #urbanfarming #communitygarden #communitygardens
