A huge shout-out, and an even bigger thank-you, to this group of wonderful people who stayed after class on Monday and gave the gym a thorough cleaning and reorganization. They put in multiple hours of work to get this done. Thank you, Al, James, Ben, Scott, Scott, Roland, Ann, Alva, Sara, and Sherrill! *** Also, the best way you can thank them is to put all of the kettlebells, dumbbells, bars, and bumper plates back in the correct place after you're done with them. Do your part to help us keep the gym clean and organized! *** @a_y_g @discopom @imalflorit @scooter4239606 @rolo247365 @thebennybrown @jgeraghty2.0 @selavagnino #crossfitoakland #cleanandorganized #muchbetter
Lawrence working on his handstand push-up earlier this evening. Remember, gymnastics movements can be worked progressively--and for strength development--in the same way barbell movements can. It's all about progressive overload and proper rep ranges. @larrymon #crossfitoakland #gymnastics #strengthmatters #progressionsmatter #positionmatters
We have two teams of CFOers doing a Ragnar relay at Zion this weekend. This group of 7 (left to right: Hilary, Emily, J-Woo, Adam, Kaysen, Norah, and Nick) met up at CFO bright and early Thursday morning to drive out to Zion together. Go get 'em, Team CFO! @hilarynv @jwoo915 @kaysenthejoint @katemonster85 #crossfitoakland #ragnar #ragnarrelay #zion #zionnationalpark
Came across this out in the wild world of IG. This guy is on to something. Great advice for those of you working on your strict HSPU strength... #Repost @simonnieland (@get_repost) ・・・ I realise this won’t be a popular post because so many people in our community do this. And for various reasons. ——- Some people do this for comfort. Others do it to give themselves a “target” to aim for. Others do it because of their ego... ——- Whatever your reason, there’s an answer: • - be more active in your shoulders to prevent neck ache. • - video yourself instead of using the mat as a target. • - leave your ego at the door and get on the damn box. ——- “Strength is created in the range it is trained”. And it just so happens that even 1 ab mat is stopping you from reaching the most IMPORTANT part of the range. ——- Tag a friend that does this so they can get stronger. 👌🏻🤸♂️ - @simonnieland #SYNTraining #SYNGymnastics
Guthrie is a private coaching client who has put some serious work into the basics (the most important things, by the way): being consistent with his training schedule, putting good food in his body, and working on weaknesses in his fitness game, day in and day out. When Guthrie first started training with us, he struggled to hold his chin above the bar with a bent-arm hang. This past month, he started knocking out strict chin-ups like no big deal. We didn't catch his first one on video, unfortunately. This is just one of many he's busted out recently. And the video totally cuts off the bottom of his legs, but rest assured, he's starting from a full hang. Keep up the strong work, Guthrie! If you're looking to take your training to the next level, hit us up. We can help! #crossfitoakland #coachingmatters #clientgains #puttinginthework
New T’s & Tanks are in!! Get yours before they’re gone 👏💁♀️👕💪Thanks to @csalmon for modeling!
Norah in flight during 18.5. She does such a great job of staying tight and keeping her arms straight while letting her hips fire and generate force. Pulling early with the arms during the kipping pull-up, just like in the Olympic lifts, is a major fault that robs you of power. @katemonster85 #crossfitoakland #18point5 #intheopen #kipping #kippingpullups #chesttobar
More 18.4 success stories... @kaysenthejoint and @kchis0721 had major HSPU breakthroughs. Kaysen got her first-ever HSPUs and finished with 7 by the end of the workout. Katie did one better and finished with 8 HSPUs by the end of 18.4. Strong work, ladies! #crossfitoakland #intheopen #hspu #prtime
