Here’s a photo of the lighthouse at Cape Schanck, somewhere I’d love to go back to soon 😊
Not long after I took this photo, we saw a little platypus swimming around in the waterfall’s plunge pool.
Today is my last day in Tasmania for a while. Although we’ve managed to see a lot of this beautiful state, we definitely haven’t seen it all. Everywhere you turn, there’s something else beautiful to see. This is Little Blue Lake. It’s tucked off a less well travelled road (which turns into dirt track not long after). The Tasmanians have a way of naming everything very obviously. What shall we call this? Oh well it’s a little blue lake so that probably
Guide Falls was so much bigger than I’d thought it would be. The whole thing was made from geometric rock (not dissimilar to that at the Giant’s Causeway), and huge chunks of it had broken away from the sides of the valley.
I’m loving all the botany in Tasmania. There’s a lot of plants I’ve never seen before (and a lot of familiar ones brought over by the English settlers in the 1800s, like thistles and oak trees)
Cradle Mountain was so beautiful. I even saw my first ever wild platypus, which was pretty amazing.
So excited to be back in Tasmania! We’ve spent the day exploring Launceston after a bit of a bumpy landing (seriously felt like a handbrake turn over a cobbled street into the airport), but I can’t wait to explore what Northern Tasmania has to offer!
Forests or meadows? I love being in the forest. It’s probably one of my favourite places, beaten only by the coast.
Super excited to be going back to Tasmania soon! Anyone got any recommendations?
We went down to the Mornington Peninsula National Park today. I saw a little echidna in the grass and went over to say hello. He wasn’t scared of me and I just sat watching him while he snuffled round for ants, it was very cute
Have you got any plans for the New Year? . I’m looking forward to returning to Tasmania early next year, as well as visiting Iceland for the first time. Let me know any recommendations you have for places to visit in either, I don’t want to miss anything 😄
We drove down to Cape Shanck today with the best intentions of walking the tracks there. However, the flies were so intense my sisters didn’t want to do it 😂 I don’t think there is anything more persistent than an Australian fly 🙄
Can’t wait to explore the Tasmanian wilderness again. I can’t believe I’d never visited before, or realised what a beautiful place it would prove to be.
Hello! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas yesterday 🎄🎅🏻 it was so nice to spend time with my family and experience an Australian Christmas again. It was a bit weird breaking our UK traditions and having salads and pavlova instead of a roast dinner and Christmas pudding, but walking on the beach was a little nicer than in the cold and rain 😂
Are you ready for Christmas? Before today, I was missing half of the presents I needed to buy, hadn’t wrapped those that I’d got, and we didn’t have much of a plan for Christmas dinner (I love a roast, but in 30 degrees? I think not). But now I think I’m pretty much sorted - just need to get on with baking the lebkuchen and a Christmas pavlova 😊
Waiting for your family to get out of your photo then running after them in order to catch up because you’ve seen 2 snakes in a week and you’re scared of getting bitten 🐍
