Sending @vicjkim off at LAX last night with a one-way ticket in her hand was one of the saddest moments of my life. Since we met in the @latimes newsroom 11 years ago, she and I have spent almost *every single day* together. As anyone who knows me knows, we were inseparable — save for the two weeks a year when she’d fly home to South Korea. Now she has returned for good to become our Seoul bureau chief and foreign correspondent. I am so, so proud of her - there is no one better for the position, and I’m grateful to The Times for recognizing her immense talent, rewarding her with her dream job and reuniting her with her family. It is impossible to fully convey what she means to me, so I’ll simply say: @vicjkim, you’re my person for life and the best part of L.A. was you. 😭❤️✈️🇰🇷
Feeling the love from the L.A. restaurant world today. I’m happy (and relieved!) that the #101List is finally out, and honored that I got to write up 29 of my favorites, including @shunjijapanesecuisine, @petittroisla, @tsujita_usa, @angeliniosteria, @sonoratownla and @sqirlla. I still can’t believe how many restaurants @jenn_harris_, @ascattergood and I ate at in the span of a few months.
