Found. The tiniest studs. $3 for a a very special cause. There they sat, illustrating (at least for me) a vision for 2018. Instead of a word, I have these. Symbols of creativity refined, a lifestyle forming yet already formed. Two, not one, because I am not me without you. A reminder that the mess is a part of the process. What a beautiful opportunity it is to #enter into it all. #established2018 @lifestylebrooklyn #comingsoon
During the last week of each year I choose a book and read it from cover to cover. #brooklynbookweek could be my favorite week of the year. Then I set my intentions to sit with it for as long as needed—for as long as it takes to really let it tell me more. Then I read it again and ask some questions. And yet again to let a portion of it chat with me deeper. Then I sit waiting for whatever gift all of that will bring. Hats off to @brenebrown for braving wild, for standing alone...the price is high indeed, but the reward...oh so great.
Challenge accepted St. Pete. To be part of a community is to be compassionate toward the people around us and to be transparently honest about how messy it is to be human. It’s tougher to judge when we are curious. It’s tougher to hate, to reject, to give up when we move in. Who wants to love their neighbor better this year? Who wants to be for other people more than we are for our own bank accounts and ambitions? Who wants to shift the focus from “me” to “we”. I’ll take another step. Do you want to step with me? #letsbeneighbors
Merry & Bright 🎄Warmest Wishes From Our Family To Yours!
home for the holidays ➕
We have a sign. And even bigger hearts. I love getting to do this life with you @somoschurch Tonight is going to be so very special.
She’s turning 8 in a few hours. And we can’t imagine this life without this girl who put her toes to the trees in preschool and never stopped climbing. She’s the one who plans every detail for others but could care less about the details that don’t matter (like wearing shoes...washing clothes...getting new stuff) I’m thankful for everything her life has to teach mine. #myaonfiya #swipeleft #phasesofthemya #happybirthday
Filling up bags of undies for the lovelies at Oscar J Pope. Marley is busy stretching. But if she could talk she’d tell you what we’re learning. When something breaks your heart follow it with curiosity and compassion. It’s beautiful to see what happens when we all get broken together. #hopeforpope #somoschurch #lovelakeland #livecompassion #marleygeorgewashington

Say hello to book number nine! Its not quite New Years goals season, BUT I’m excited to write more in 2018. And this feels like the perfect beginning... at the end of a beautiful, challenging, messy, gratifying, heartbreaking, overcoming, hope filled year. It’s a devotional type of book for humans to read at advent. You can read it and practice advent on your own or with others. I would love to know what you think! PS: It was healing to write about advent when it wasn’t advent yet. So, if you’re a little behind on the season. You have permission to take advent into whatever month you wish. Human pass granted. Your life is dipped in grace so extravagant. I’m grateful for the chance to be a part of this collaboration, @thisisthecommunity you are such sacred people. Thank you for being family.
I’ve always appreciated the simplicity of having one twinkling Christmas tree lit in the corner of our house. Coy has never really loved hanging Christmas lights and I’ve been a lot of years ok with that. All was calm and peaceful. Until one day he opened a can of sarcasm laced with I think actual feelings on our neighbors. He told them to quit pressuring everyone on the street to hang lights. Well, as you might guess it only served to multiply the Christmas cheer. We have another layer of lights lovingly gifted by someone else on the street to add to the grinch and dirty orange extension cord plugged in through our front door mailbox. I can only imagine what this place is going to look like at the end of the month. #classylakeland #theresasnowmanonourroof #coyisresponsible #christmaslightwars
