No street art for awhile, which is a shame because Valencian street art scene is almost as good as Melbourne’s
Surviving the summer heat in Valencia! You could do what these people are doing or you could do what I did. Today I went to the Town Hall. I was told to go around the corner to the other door. The woman told me I needed to complete two dox (in Spanish of course) then go to another municipal building across the river. At the second office, there was only one woman who spoke some English so I had to wait for her. She kept forgetting and speaking to me in Spanish 😂. (She was lovely 😊.) At 1:46, she told me I had to go the bank, pay the tax, and come back before 2. (Because the bank and the municipal office close at 2.) Her directions were wrong and I ended up at another bank. Then another one, then the right one. (She told me turn right out of building and the right again. Turns out I needed to turn right, miss the next right, and then turn right.) I paid the tax with two minutes to spare and got back at 1:59!!! Mission ACCOMPLISHED ! I was amazing!!! 😂🤩☝🏽
I had just finished the « Mai 68 » photo exhibition at the Palau Robert (about the civil unrest in France in May 1968) when I came upon this family meetup.
This is why I love Gracia!!!! (The aptly named Carrer Verdi.) El Born is my favourite quarter but I’m cheating on her with Gràcia!
God, I forgot how much I like Barcelona!! El Born, Gràcia, the Gothic Quarter. And now I can add Eixample. I recommend the ice-cream at Delacrem, the hamburgers at Bacoa, and the made on site perfume at Labperfum. These origami were hanging at the very peaceful Cosmo in the Carrer d’Enric Granados. #origami #origamiart #swans
Every barrio in Valencia has got its own distinctive architecture. This is Cabanyal - the old fisherman’s town near the beach. Check out my new blog post for all the architectural pix so far https://ashlar.format.com/blog
Valencian teens. Some things are universal! 😅
The lightening bolt takes on new significance as it heralds cooler weather in València
On Saturday, out of nowhere, there appeared a parade. For Bolivian Independence. 🇧🇴 Lots of Native American culture on display.
My oldest friend y hermano bought a house in the old fisherman’s town of Cabanyal last week. It was very interesting to attend the land transfer at the local notary. Afterwards, we went and promptly changed the locks! The architecture in Cabanyal is very distinctive.
Rocking the poses on the El Carmen Street Art Tour
It took Valencia’s sweltering heat to get me back in the gym. Anything to be out of the midday heat 😝😳
After a week, I realise the Spanish are right about so many things. The value of a siesta, a big meal at lunch, and staying out of the bloody heat btwn 1 and 5pm. #HypeBeast #vscoportrait #ig_mood #discoverportrait #portraitphotography #profile_vision #bleachmyfilm #postmoreportraits #portraitpage #mkexplore #shotzdelight #rsa_streetview #vscoportrait #urbanandstreet #gearednomad #uncalculated #symmetricalmonsters #quietthechaos #thecreative #yngkillers #valenciagrafias #valenciana #igersvalencia #ig_catalonia #ig_valencia #instavalencia #pentaxian #pentaxfun #pentaxiansstandup #focalmarked #ryshoshin
Someone asked me once why I was “always looking up”. When I was growing up, my dad, who died earlier this year, was always pointing out examples of good architecture. You could keep peeling away the great architecture in Valencia’s old city and never be done.
