Behind the scenes with the Whale Sharks
Crested Guan at Tikal NP
Though they were pretty common, it was impossible to not be excited when we spotted a Lesson's Motmot Picture taken at @lostarralesreserve
We were lucky enough to come across a few ant swarms while exploring Tikal. I was struck by the similarity in composition of the bird flocks we found following the ants. Gray-headed Tanagers, warblers (Hooded, Kentucky, Ovenbird), Brown Jays, and lots of woodcreepers. My favorite was the Northern Barred-Woodcreeper
I'm beat and my boots are trashed but what an adventure. We were lucky enough to spot three Horned Guans and they put on quite the show. This may have been my top birding experience ever
Enjoyed a stroll around town this afternoon. Managed to get 2 lifers. The serious birding starts tomorrow!
A few photos from an old field site and one of my favorite places to bird. I definitely miss driving the air boats, chasing gators, and the overwhelming avian life. The fire ants and cottonmouths, not so much #floridabirds #laketoho #kissimmee #boattailedgrackle #palmwarbler #sandhillcrane #limpkin #tricoloredheron
This juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk has brought some extra excitement to going to work. I have seen him/her a few times around the parking lot recently, once with a good sized frog in it's grasp (sorry @frogsneedourhelp) #redshoulderedhawk #atlantaaudubon #blueheronnaturepreserve #raptors #urbanbirds #atlanta
