#whatwereyouwearingwaco ✨ currently at the SUB on Baylor campus. If you have the time, go check it out. Tw: rape, sexual assault . . . . . WHAT WERE YOU WEARING: “Army ACUs and I was carrying a gun. So much for that preventing anything.” . . . “T shirt and uniform skirt. After I burned my clothes in order to get rid of the reminder, I kept asking myself ‘what’s left now?’”. . . Please believe and support survivors. Please speak out. Please call out your friends, co-workers, peers, classmates, family, that guy at the bar. Please be an advocate for progress and bodily autonomy. Please be part of the solution to dismantling rape culture and misogyny/misogynoir. . . . This means uncomfortable conversation and self-reflection. This means knocking people’s drinks out of their hands, even if you only *think* you saw something. It means befriending strangers when you recognize the signals. It means protecting your sisters, not just your cis-ters. We have so much fucking work to do.
What were you wearing? Why does it matter? Tonight I could sit and write endless lines on how much rape culture affects our society and how prevalent it has been in our college campus. Instead I want to invite you to visit #whatwereyouwearingwaco and take a look at the stories represented by this installation. Truth is, we can all be lights and shine bright, but first we have to understand that we still live in darkness. If you don't live in Waco feel free to ask me about it, and even if you do and want to talk about it, feel free to ask as well.💕 PC:@raquelcnunez

At What Were You Wearing exhibit opening last night. On-going throughout Waco for the month of April. It was an honor to portray a story that is not my own, but has effected so many I love and countless men, women & children every day. We stand with you and support you. I am in awe of your strength, bravery & deep rooted resiliency. I pray for the day when victims are not blamed for the crimes perpetrated against them. I pray for the day when no one is asked what they were wearing. May we be part of the solution. #whatwereyouwearingwaco
If you want to combat sexual violence, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty. Tonight's the night! The opening of "What Were You Wearing, Waco?" This is an art exhibit which displays the actual doors and recreations of what people were wearing when they were assaulted. It's really moving and really beautiful and I've been working on it with my best friend for the past six months. I would love if you all would come out tonight from 6-8 to Austin Ave to hear me and many others speak. #whatwereyouwearingwaco
