Healing looks different for most people. Healing sometimes looks like saying, “No.” Or it looks like spending your lunch period outside, eyes closed, face turned up towards the sun. Sometimes healing looks like canceling plans. And sometimes healing looks a lot like following through with plans. :: Healing is not having to say “Sorry” for your feelings. Because they’re your feelings and they are valid. Healing looks like forgiveness and grace and understanding (or trying your best to understand). Healing sometimes looks like knowing glances across the room. Like putting your phone away. Like deep breaths. Like going to sleep early. :: Today, healing looked like going to my therapy appointment even when I didn’t feel like going. Healing looks like showing up. Especially where it matters. And when it matters. And especially for yourself. Can I tell you that showing up will be one of the hardest & messiest things you can do? It is not beautiful or pretty to sit in front of someone and spill your guts and cry and tell those dark parts of yourself that you have hid for so long. But my goodness, is it freeing. So show up for yourself. In the midst of the mess. Show up. And learn to heal.
