Dough Recipe
1 3/4 c Luke warm water
2 Tbsp yeast (I use rapid rise)
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp oil
1 1/2 tsp salt
4-5 cups flour
Mix water, yeast, sugar and oil together. No need to wait for it to proof (get foamy). Add abt 3 cups flour and salt. Keep adding flour 1 c at s time until a soft, barely sticky dough is formed. Set aside.
Filling:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
4-8 Tbsp butter, softened
1/2 c chopped walnuts
Mix all together. I made this with 4 Tbsp butter and the filling would have been smoother with closer to 8.
Divide dough into two parts. Roll out rectangle the size of a large cookie sheet. Place half of filling down center. Cut the same number of strips on each side. Braid, being sure to overlap the ends of the strips each time with the next one. Tuck in the bottom.
Bake 350 for 20-25 min. Let cool. Drizzle with a simple glaze. DM me with questions. .
