When turtles are ill or injured should we help or leave it to nature? When turtles get floating syndrome this can be caused from something they ate, which is blocking their gastrointestinal tract. The gas builds up inside causing them to float, leaving them unable to dive for food and they are more vulnerable to shark attacks and boat collisions. The floats can be caused from something found normally in the water or it could have eaten plastic rubbish. So... do we leave them to starve, possibly attacked from below or get beached? Or do we try rehab, which may also cause stress, until they pass the food and can swim normally?
