// N E E D S L E E P ? // We all do. How much? It depends. As a nation, we’re getting less sleep, and what we do get is of a lower quality, as modern life tilts ever more towards working practices and technology seemingly designed to disrupt sleep patterns. There is ALARMING evidence of insufficient and poor quality sleep linked with obesity and type 2 diabetes. GP'S turn to sleeping pills as easy remedies but they're crap for us. The face of an angel!!! 😇👏🏻
Are you or your kids always hungry before bed? Try snacking on a banana- it contains Tryptophan which helps sleep!
“My toddler keeps getting out of bed” is one of our most popular plans. Toddlers go through many developmental milestones and this can in turn affect their sleep - this plan has everything you need to help combat this and ensure your little one is back in their bed (on average) within two weeks! www.kidssleep.co.uk
Interesting fact!! Pork, potatoes, tomatoes and aubergines all contain something called Tyramine, an amino acid which our body converts to Noradrenaline.. A brain stimulant which keeps us up at night! Try switching these foods to lunch time meals instead of dinner if your child has any difficulties going to sleep at night 😴
Sounds familiar?! 😂 Message us for any more information on our sleep plans!
Needing to fall asleep on the breast or bottle is one of the most common sleep associations and by far the most popular reason that parents contact us for support. Using a gradual two week process (not cry in out!) our plan can help change these sleep associations and help your little one learn to sleep independently 😴 Link to our shop in our bio!
Happy customers 😊
These TWO.... yes these two! They’re are f***in killing me.... they look so angelic, yet they are sooooo full on. Hyper active, & non stop, always questioning and pushing boundaries, never take No as answer, in fact I don’t think they know what No means. One word for sure that they don’t understand(and certainly don’t need) is SLEEP. I’m desperate- HELP ME!!! . I’ve tried everything in the book to get them to sleep, to make sure they stay asleep. Nothing works. Everyone told me that it would get better once they start school. It’s actually TEN times worse. Not only do they get into our bed every night, they now play tag team and see who can stay up the latest. Oh and if the other one is asleep they will wake them up ‘but I wanted to see if she was blinking mummy’ or ‘I have her my blanket Mum, so I need her one’ ....so we end up with both awake until gone midnight. Then they are nightmare to wake up for school in the morning.... I’m not too sure how they are carrying on, I’m not sure I can carry on for much longer....we don’t get an evening to ourselves and I was hoping that his would of calmed down so I could get some rest before the next little storm arrives in 18 weeks 🤦🏻♀️. An early bedtime is best to ensure your child doesn't become overtired. If your child becomes overtired it's harder to fall asleep and stay asleep...this is because their bodies actually release Cortisol, a hormone which then prevents sleep!
Are you expecting your first baby or know someone who is? Our Newborn Sleep Plan is perfect for teaching you valuable skills to help your little one establish positive sleep patterns as they grow 👶🏼😴 We do not advocate sleep training methods until babies are around 4 months, however this plan will help you understand further your baby’s sleep patterns, cycles, sleep associations, set suitable routines and learn about day and night sleep; helping you feel prepared for if/when you decide to sleep train at a later point 😊 Link in our bio for our online shop or feel free to message us for more info! Our website also has an option to receive personalized daily support whilst you complete your sleep programme! This means one of our therapists will guide you through all the highs and lows and support you while you make these positive changes in your baby/child's life!
Yawning, rubbing eyes, pulling at ears, grizzling and clenched fists can all be signs that your baby is tired and ready for bed! What does your little one do to show you they're tired? 😴
Happy Monday and the start of a new week! We say this a lot but it is so true - children who are exposed to daylight in the morning and early afternoons have better melatonin production when evening falls; melatonin induces sleep, so try and get outdoors every day! 👍
One of the hardest things for parents to do is to allow their little ones to self-soothe at night time. However, it is crucial they learn how to do this. Put your baby to bed when they are drowsy, not asleep. Babies who drift off on their own are more likely to learn to soothe themselves to sleep. 👶🏻💤
What size coffee do you need today?! 😴 ☕️
So this definitely makes us smile and although we can all laugh at the caption and photo, Sleep Associations are one of the biggest difficulties that parents face when it comes to establishing appropriate sleep patterns. A baby who falls asleep in their parents arms and then wakes up during the night in their cot, WILL cry out - this is simply because they are now finding themselves in a different situation to how they fell asleep and need the same conditions to be able to fall asleep in the night again. The good news is that Sleep Associations can be changed fairly easily through a gradual sleep training process :)
We often hear from parents who cannot understand why their children are so tired but will not sleep... over-tiredness can affect children in very different ways causing an increasing in the hormone ‘Cortisol’ - meaning despite being exhausted they can’t sleep! Our plans can help combat this and help develop appropriate schedules for babies and children to ensure over-tiredness does not affect their sleeping patterns 😊

DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES. A smile. Rolling over. First steps. These moments in your baby's development are exciting! New milestones however, can often temporarily impact their sleep patterns causing more frequent waking. Allow your child to practice this skill over and over again during the day - that way their night time sleep will not be affected for too long.
We are often asked when is the best time to start sleep training? And we always suggest around 4 months. Before this, babies are not biologically and developmentally ready to learn these skills... At 4 months your baby’s brain is changing rapidly and developmentally most little ones are ready at this time to learn these fundamentals sleep skills! 😴
Something that we say to all new parents is to ensure the room that your baby sleeps in at night time is DARK! Babies cannot distinguish between night and day to begin with (hence their sleep patterns being all over the place!) and need help to learn.... Being in a dark environment at night time helps stimulate the production of “melatonin” - the sleep hormone that tells us all when to sleep!
Great photo! 😂 Although being constantly tired isn’t a necessity of being a parent! Sometimes a few simple changes is all it takes to help your baby or child get into a positive sleep routine 😴

Can better sleep improve PTSD symptoms? Higher quality sleep patterns are associated with reduced activity in brain regions involved in fear learning, according to a study of young adults. The results suggest that baseline sleep quality may be a useful predictor of susceptibility to post-traumatic stress disorder.
What a beautiful poem! 💖 It is never too early to start reading to your baby. A bedtime story can become a key part of the bedtime routine helping your child’s mind and body to relax before they sleep. A baby or child in a high state of alert just before bed will struggle to fall asleep... They may not initially understand what you are saying, but reading every night (even to a tiny baby!) can help your little one learn routine and when it is time to sleep 😴
Why are respiratory theorists in such high demand? "Between 1980 and 2014, the rate of death from chronic respiratory diseases, such as COPD, increased by nearly 30% overall in the US, although this trend varied by county, sex, and chronic respiratory disease type, according to a study published by JAMA."

Happy well rested Sunday!
If you’re in the middle of establishing new sleep patterns for your child it is vital that you find time for yourself too to relax! 30 minutes “you time” will help you feel more refreshed and rejuvenated and make it easier to continue to reach your end goals! Change isn’t easy initially but the end result is more than worth it!
If you have just started sleep training, it's always good to remember that change takes time! Set about reaching your goal with baby steps. The slower and more gradually you teach your baby new skills, the easier it will be for them to adapt to the changes you need to make! 👣
Did you have a baby who used to sleep through and now keeps standing in their cot demanding your attention!? As babies grow and develop their sleep can become affected...The sooner you implement changes and help them to establish appropriate sleep patterns again, the better! Self soothing is a learnt skill-Help your baby break the habit of falling asleep only with your assistance by putting her in her cot while she's still awake, allowing her to try and settle down herself. A baby that falls asleep independently will be able to fall back to sleep during the night. 👍 Around 4-6 months babies sleep cycles begin to mature: to help your little one learn valuable strategies to self-settle, try to follow these four top tips! 1. Put your baby to bed in the SAME PLACE every night 2. Have a predictable, consistent bedtime routine 3. Put your baby to bed AWAKE 4. If your baby wakes in the night, wait a few minutes before intervening, (this will help them learn crucial self soothing techniques)

“White noise” is something that we often suggest to parents of young babies. Newborns are so used to hearing sounds when in the womb (including mummy’s constant heart beat ❤️) that they actually find it uncomfortable to sleep in total silence. There are many brilliant white noise toys which can be purchased, however free apps just like this one, have so many different options for sounds which can be played to your little one! It can help babies to not only fall asleep independently, but to re-settle if they hear the same sounds when they wake during the night!

Beautiful Autumn!! 🍂🍁 The cold weather is definitely here, but it is still so important to get your child outside as much as you can. Natural daylight helps the production of the hormone “melatonin” - Melatonin helps the body to know that it is time to fall asleep when night time approaches 😴😴
