The last several weeks I have listened to nothing but Slayer. I tend to go through these cycles as far as what I listen to. There was and always will be a special place in my heart for this guy in particular. Jeff Hanneman was one of my biggest guitar influences and I never truly realized it until after a show that I played one night @addrok came up to me and told me that my riffs sounded like a more progressive slayer. That was one of the biggest compliments I could have ever received. That something I wrote reminded him of something Jeff did. I had posters of this guy all over my wall along with many others, of course. I can remember Slayer always felt like they were my band just for me. I recall listening to Diabolus In Musica on repeat for hours by myself when I was 10 and 11 years old and the impression it left on me was deep. Their riffs were and are so sinister and simply bad ass. There was zero bullshit with Slayer. No guessing their intentions. Sinister, bad ass, fast, and flat out mean. They have an energy that I have yet to see any band even come close to. #slayer #metal #thrash #jeffhanneman #esp
