Finally checking out the new Glenmorangie Spìos, the 9th edition in the distillery's private edition series. And while I was unable to attend the launch for this, better late than never to give it a try. It's the first Scotch single malt fully matured in American rye whisky casks, with the name nodding to that, meaning 'spice' in Gaelic. I hate to be so simplistic, but this really tastes as a 1+1 combo of the signature fruity and floral notes of Glenmorangie, with the spicy and toasty oak of the ex-rye casks. There's also a buttery, creamy feel to the palate, and a bit of nuttiness. Cheers!
