I've begun winterizing the figs 🌳 Some light pruning and then a nice cozy wrapping in heavy ag fabric.. it's not pretty (and some might say it's not entirely necessary here in zone 7), but our figs are young, so I am erring on the side of caution 🤗 This is my second year wrapping them. . Figs are said to be hardy in zone 7, but I have known local folks who have lost theirs to the cold... so I would say it also depends on your microclimate (exposure, wind, slope, etc.). . Here's to next year's fig crop!! 😍 Whether we have figs in our 2019 CSA will be up to Mother Nature (cross your fingers!). This year, we had lots of fruit, but several frosts came before the figs had ripened. If the frosts next year hold off til November, we should have a much better shot at including the figs in our CSA.

Best Brownies 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 cup white sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup cocoa 1/2 cup flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp baking powder Directions: In a sauce pan melt butter/margarine, stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Removed from heat and beat in cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder with hand mixer till smooth. Grease and flour a 8x8 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Frosting: 3 tbsp butter/margarine 3 tbsp cocoa 1 tbsp honey 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup icing sugar. Melt butter & honey in microwave. Add remaining ingredients, stir or mix with mixer till smooth. If very solid melt a bit in microwave. Place on brownies while they are warm, so it will melt on. Enjoy! P.s. Don’t forget to enter our Christmas giveaway.
