THE COACHING CAROUSEL: A lot has happened this past week on the coaching front with numerous changes and rumors. CONFIRMED: Stud RB coach Deland McCullough has flipped to the Kansas City Chiefs. This loss stings the most, as Deland was pivotal in making the RB position our best unit. Also, he was one of the main recruiters for Markese Stepp and some of the other commits on the roster. Finding someone as talented as him will be almost impossible. NEW QB Coach: Grad assistant Bryan Ellis has been confirmed as the new QB coach. Though this may seem like a hire that will cause a lot of anger, I can sort of see the rationale behind this decision. Ellis has been working with QB's Darnold, Sears, and Fink for the past two seasons now. He's familiar with the playbook and essentially was a disciple of Tyson Helton. Though it's no home run, it's understandable. RUMORS: Tee Marton to sign extension. Now now, I know what you guys are thinking: WORST PLAYCALLER EVER. Though playcalling is not his strength, he does return his elite recruiting and relationship with the players. Let's not forget he did get interviews with NFL teams such as the Raiders. Wouldn't mind this at all. BYE RONNIE?? Yes you heard it. Ronnie Bradford has allegedly interviewed with the Jets for their DB Coach position. All I can say and most fans will agree: PLEASE TAKE HIM. PLEASE. We will keep you updated with any other coaching changes throughout the offseason. Comment which hire, loss, or rumor you are most interested in.

RASHEEM TO THE NFL. Congrats on a terrific 3 seasons. Rasheem showed year 1 on his strip sack and TD against Rosen that he'd become a star. Green’s been through it all and with some more weight can become a force in the NFL. Thank you for the memories and keep fighting on towards greatness✌️ With Rasheem ready for the NFL, your time comes Christian Rector 👀
ANOTHER ONE: Three year starter Iman Marshall opts to return for his Senior year! In our opinion, this is one of the biggest announcements yet, as the CB position is not as deep as some of the other corps. With the past year being sparse in DB talent and this year’s being uncertain, Iman’s return lends much needed stability to the secondary. Young corners such as Chase Williams and Greg Johnson, will not be thrown into the game and have to learn on the fly. However, there have been a few rumbles that the staff may experiment with Iman at the safety position, which might be a good move considering his size and ability to read the QB, but also since he might not be as fast as some other players. Overall, we are pumped for this announcement, and things are starting to look up. Fight on Iman! Comment your thoughts 👇

OFFICIAL: Sam Darnold declares for the NFL Draft. At 20-4 as starter for USC, we could not have asked for a better QB leading our guys for the last 2 seasons. We are so grateful for Sam and what he has done to help USC improve as a team, and help rebuild this program to being the top dog in the Pac-12. @SamDarnold, we will miss you. But we know that this is the right decision and we know you'll be the first Trojan QB to finally win a superbowl. MVP. Savior. Sam. Thank you ✌️ FIGHT ON

QB C+ Look, I understand that his OL couldn't block a teddy bear out there that night, but he missed timely throws that could've turned the game around. The INT thrown was a killer and thrown right into triple coverage. This was not the Sam we saw against PState. We'll see what he decides to do next. Jan.15 is the Declare Deadline. RB: B. Considering how garbage the OL was we really can't fault the RB play. Rojo did the best that he could against a top notch OSU D line in addition to zero holes being opened for him. Shout out to him for not sitting out what is most likely his last game as a Trojan. WR: C+. Not a good day here as well. Star receiver Deontay Burnett ended up costing us the game with a fumble and an unfinished route that led to a pick six. Though there was a few good catches by Vaughns and Pitt OL F- They looked like boys against men out there. OSU's line looked like the Monstars and USC's wouldn't have been saved even with Mike's secret stuff. The line needs much more beef, a nastier attitude, and better coaching than what we saw. Awful. When even Darnold calls you out after a game, you should feel ashamed. DL: B+. OSU was dubbed as the best and most experienced offensive line in the county coming into the game. I didn't really see much of that throughout the game, especially in the second half. We essentially eliminated J.K Dobbins and the run of JT Barrett. Not to mention OSU was scoreless in the second half. Coach KU has a bright future. DB's C+ Average at best. The few times Barrett let it fly he got some huge conversions. Langley looked soft again and Jack couldn't do much. There weren't any big plays at all. Unless you count Harris celebrating after the WR he was covering DROPPED the OPEN ball. LB: B. Like the DL, they made some key tackles throughout the game and didn't let anything go past them in the second half. Big shout out to Chenna Nwosu who balled out in his last game with 2 sacks. We also saw the future core of Jordan Iosefa with no big plays being let up when he was in. Houston was everywhere on the field. Coaching: A mess. Running on 3rd and long. Not taking a chance to end the half. No urgency with clock. Utter Garbage.

COTTON BOWL RAPID REACTION Usually for our rapid reactions we write in bullet style to display our feelings in a clean and concise way. But I'm sorry. Tonight I'm going in. Throughout the entire season, I have noticed one common theme: the failure to reach lofty expectations. For most of the games, we have not been able to cover the spread. From the start of the season against W Michigan, there were concerning flaws in this team that prevented them from making the leap into becoming elite. We should have saw the signs, but our record looked really good. 11-2, looking for 12-2 which would only be our 5th 12 win season in the history. However, it was not to be. Turnovers. They killed us. All throughout the game there were signs of what could be promising drives but momentum was constantly crushed. But the real reason for that? The Offensive Line. TERRIBLE. They were manhandled all night by Sam Hubbard and Nick Bosa, which gave Sam and the running backs no time at all to react. This lead to us starting out the drive very promising, but either leading to a turnover or a sack that led to a punt. Contrary to what many "experts" say about this game being a "domination", it certainly wasn't that. Turnovers and Refs killed any chance of a comeback and greatly padded Ohio States scoring. In fact, USC led significantly in Time of Possession, Yards, and first downs. A disappointing end to the season to say the least with dry playcalling and NO sense of URGENCY with the time draining. Not even going for it with a minute left to end the half (oh yea when we went for it against Texas it got us a TD Clay and Tee) Game grades will be out tomorrow, but as always.... Fight on! Comment your thoughts below.
USC vs OSU GAME KEYS It's almost wartime, a game that could influence the future of USC Football for years to come. The impact of this game is absolutely immense, so lets go over a few keys on making an imprint on Trojan history. 1. 25 THROWS: We all know how great of a runner JT Barrett is along side his backfield. It is arguably the best in the country when factoring in their Offensive Line. Thus, Clancy will want to try and bait Barrett to throw by forcing a lot of one on one matchups. The target number is 25. When the time comes for JT throw, we need to make sure to maximize opportunities by picking off one or two throws. 2. SETTLE IN: Far too many times, we have seen this team get worked in the beginning of games against better opposition, causing the game to be too difficult to come back against. No silly throws, protect the ball, and try to stay within a possession in the first half, especially as underdogs. 3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MATCHUPS: Let's face it: Ohio State is a stacked team. When talking about talent, they are one of the few teams that outmatches USC. They are ridiculously deep on so many positions. However, this means that Urban likes to rotate a lot. And when their starters are out, we must seize the advantage to get ahead. We can do this by throwing the ball whenever Kendall Sheffield's in. For the most part, the secondary is rock solid except for when he is on the field, as he's error prone. Strike whenever OSU takes a breather. 4. IGNORE THE CHATTER: As most of you guys have seen, the line is -9.5 towards OSU. 9.5!!!! I know OSU should be the favored, but come on. A touchdown plus more is outright disrespectful. The team should ignore this and come out hungry to prove a point that the entire Pac-12 is not too terrible and that we should receive more recognition. 5. NO CLUELESS PLAYS: 1 month to prepare, and hopefully Clay and Co have sorted out our best plays for this game. No more HB dives on 3rd and 10. Instead, I want to see at least THREE tricky plays that can get a TD when executed correctly. Trojans. It's time for a collegiate blue blood battle. Comment #BeatTheBuckeyes for good luck and as always.... FIGHT ON! OG Photos via NIKE

#8 USC #5 OHIOSTATE 5:30 PST, will magic strike again TONIGHT? Last year against Penn State.. 453 yards 5TDs 1INT and 20 yards rushing. USC has won 7 straight against Ohio State (1975-2009). 19 combined national championships, and 7 Heismans each. USC and OSU are 1st and 3rd in NFL draft picks, 1st and 2nd in NFL first rounders. If you’re not HYPED for this one, what are you doing? 🤷 Make sure to check out @talegateapp to chat with some former USC players throughout the game! ✌️

OSU OFFENSE BREAKDOWN The Buckeye offense is known for its one trait: running the ball. It's simple, you shut down the run, you win the game. But this will be very hard to do. Their OL is stacked with NFL prospects such as Billy Price, JAmarco Jonse, and Isaiah Prince. All of these guys started 13 games last season and return to this season as veterans. They are going to be the roots of the run game. Not only this, but they have a very powerful 1-2 RB duo in J.K Dobbins and Mike Weber. Though Dobbins is only a True Freshman, he has 1364 yards on the season already to go along with 7 TD's. With 10 TD's this year, Weber is more of a power back. These two are going to be a handful all night. However, we cannot discount the receving unit, as this team has a very deep WR core. Anyone can score, and there is no "favorite receiver" that you can look to shut down. One guy to watch is K.J Hill, who leads the unit with 55 receptions. Finally, let's get to the most important player to watch: J.T Barrett. Yes, it seems like he has been at OSU forever, and frankly, he has. Being a four year starter and boasting a record of 37-6, Barrett has 35 touchdowns on the year with only 9 interceptions. Though he is known more for his dual threat capabilities as he has 10 rushing touchdowns, you need to be careful of his throwing ability as well. Experience in a game like this makes all the difference, and if J.T is able to put his A-game performance, the Buckeye offense will be hard to stop.
Behind Taeshon Cherry's Decommitment USC suspected 5 star SF Taeshon Cherry for involvement in the FBI probe. Though there's little if any concrete evidence of Cherry's involvement, USC is playing the safe side just like the are with star combo guard De'Anthony Melton. It's a joke that the Athletics department has now discarded their highest ranked recruit since DeRozan, while keeping their first round talent in Melton on the bench while other Universities have already let their players under the FBI probe play. USC basketball isn't sitting pretty and it's clear the Bush situation is still scaring the hell out of the school's higher ups. Cherry's grandfather confirmed SC has stopped talking with Cherry over the last weeks. It's a shame because Cherry was primed to become a beast for the Trojans. A damn shame. Good luck going forward @tgotae
OSU DEFENSE BREAKDOWN Ohio State is a stacked team- especially on the defensive side of the field. Usually USC can simply out talent most other teams but this squad is arguably even more star studded. Their defensive line consists of Sophomore stud Nick Bosa, Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard. The OL needs to step up to the challenge to fight off the characteristic attack of the Buckeyes. The last name of Bosa ring a bell to you? That's right, he is the brother of the star Chargers second year Joey Bosa, and watch out, the Big 10 defensive player of the year will be looking to add to his 7 sacks this year. Looking at the rest of the defense, LB Jerome Baker leads the team with 67 tackles on the year. Look for him to be the MIKE of the defensive core. Captain Chris Worley is also a player to watch out for with 53 tackles. On paper, the secondary seems to be the weakest link of the team thanks to the departures of talent to the NFL but that is definitely not the case. Denzel Ward in particular has strengthened this group, with 2 interceptions this season and 37 pass breakups. However, I do believe that the secondary is the most vulnerable to attack, as their only player with experience is Damon Webb(26 career starts. USC's receiver core is getting hot however, especially 6'5 Michael Pittman. Overall, the defense is going to be a handful, but I would consider the offense to be more of a threat. Stay tuned for a post going over that tomorrow.
Hey all! Wanted to wish you guys a very Merry Christmas! We are so grateful to have such a supportive following and we cannot wait to improve our content for you guys to enjoy. daily posts from now to the Cotton Bowl. But for now, we want to wish you guys a safe and very merry night. As always, fight on✌️
THE NINTH SIGNEE: DT Caleb Tremblay signs with USC in day two of early NSD. And man, I am pumped for this one. At 6'5, 290, his ability to move and make key tackles has made known as the best DT in the entirety of JUCO. Great defensive programs such has Bama have battled for his signature, but the Trojans have convinced him to stay in his home state of California. A huge get for us and our team's depth with Rasheem possibly leaving next year. Fight on Caleb! Our 2018 class is now ranked 13th at the end of the first signing period. Watch for 5 star athlete, Talanoa Hufanga's commitment on the 28th.
OFFICIAL: JT DANIELS RECLASSIFIES TO 2018! Like we expected, and a move that was rumored for a long time, JT makes it official and takes a spot in this year's class. This helps us so much in the rankings and allows him to potentially play with Amon Ra st brown for three years! Also, this makes our QB battle very interesting, as we all thought Jack Sears would take the reins should Darnold declare after this season. However, it looks like it will be a tight battle come fall. Sears is the most athletic QB with arm talent but is still raw while Fink has the most experience along with great speed. If Fink takes that next step as passer, he's going to be dangerous. JT himself can make all the throws with great touch while also being a good runner himself. Additionally this prevents a decommitment for JT, and allows him to fully sway teammates to join such as Solomon Tuiliapupu, Amon Ra, and Bruce McCoy to name a few. If Sam does decide to bolt, the Future is still bright✌️ We'll see how he compares to top QBs Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence January 6th in the Army All American Bowl. Daniel's is currently a 5 star and ranked in the 20s in 2018. He could make a rise as high in the top 10 as the top QB for the West Team in the Bowl and Bowl practices.
Whoops! (Via D'Arcy Maine/Twitter)
COMMITTED AND SIGNED: FOUR STAR CB CHASE WILLIAMS. With CB being a huge position of need, Williams is a major pickup. A tall, physical corner back, Chase adds depth to a very thin CB core, and provides competition from day one. He can also play WR as well, which shows his versatility that coaches love. Welcome Chase and fight on ✌️
USC FLIPS FOUR STAR DE ABDUL MALIK MCCLAIN. This move does not surprise many, as he has been picking up a lot of steam to USC ever since his visit during the weekend. Trojans, you're going to like this pickup. He is the defensive MVP in his league, which many consider to be one of the most competitive in all of California. Not only this, scouts note his relentless motor and leadership, which shows he will fit right into the Trojan culture. Welcome Abdul and fight on ✌️
FOL RECRUITING UPDATE. There are a lot of pieces beginning to shift but lets start with the big name. Things are going well with Woodbey, and we can confidently predict a commitment at around 5:30 PM this Wednesday. There have been 2 decommittments today in 3 star receiver Andre Hunt and 4 star LB Bo Calvert, however neither was a surprise. Calvert has long been rumored as not fitting the staff's recruiting vision at LB. However, it is now likely that current 4 star WDE and UCLA commit Abdul Malik McClain will flip over to USC. At this moment, whether or not USC goes for another receiver outside of Amon Ra St. Brown is up in the air. It also seems like 4 star safety Julius Irvin unfortunately could end up with Notre Dame. With 9 remaining commits as good as locked in, don't be worried. Helton and Co. are going to finish strong once again. The first signing day is this Wednesday. ✌️
USC OFFICIAL VISIT WEEKEND 12/15 Jackson Carman: 😏 Markese Stepp: 🔒 Caleb Tremblay: 🙏 Jaiden Woodbey (UOV): 😁 Liam Douglass and Justin Dedich will also be there to accompany the recruits. Comment how big of a haul this would be with one or two emojis! Stepp is a bruising back from Indiana with breakaway speed, a type of RB USC hasn't had in a while and things are sounding real good. With Carman and Woodbey it'll be a wait and see. But USC is Carman's last visit that he's currently loving, and Woodbey's having a great time as well.
FLIP WATCH: Jaiden Woodbey. Intel is coming in hot that we have stolen the long time Ohio State safety pledge. Last year, we saw that Woodbey was solid as can be to Ohio State, going as far to say that his commitment was shut down. Well, one week from his early enrollment, a new development is breaking that Woodbey is ready to flip to his parents' school. Rumor of this have been floating around for a while, as he has been spotted as a "secret visitor" for a few games in the Coliseum. It seems that the pinnacle of this speculation has reached its climax, as our sources tell us Jaiden is on a unofficial visit today. Helton and Co are trying to go 2-0 against Ohio State. However, Florida State is also pursuing his pledge, so this one may come down to the wire. Stay tuned for more info ✌️

PALAIE GAOTEOTE SHUTS DOWN HIS RECRUITMENT. Rumors have recently been circulating that Palaie was looking at a potential flip to Cotton Bowl opponents Ohio State. He even had an OV scheduled next week to visit Columbus, but he has officially canceled that and any other OV that he was planning on taking throughout the month of January. This is a huge statement and win for our coaching staff, as they prove that are able to win a one vs one battle with OSU for a recruit even with opposing momentum. This is no surprise however, as we have proved that we have won these type of battles in previous recruiting classes *Porter Gustin ahem*. This will also be sure to catch the eye of top O-Line player Jackson Carman, as his top two consists of USC and Ohio State. As he is signing early, maybe this definitive decision by Palaie will help push him to the edge of commitment? Carman's planning to commit on the 20th after his USC visit (on the 15th). Ohio State is still the consensus favorite, but only time will tell. With Gaoteote however, Trojan nation can breath easy with possibly our top recruit secured.
Congrats to Rojo and Jack Jones for making the Associated Press All American Third Team! It is always great to see the hard work of these players being recognized. However, it is starting to become more and more apparent that the media simply doesn’t stay up to watch Pac 12 games. Uchenna Nwosu and Cam Smith were SNUBBED! Jack Jones didn’t even get an all pac 12 honorable mention but is a third team all American seemingly all from name recognition. Vita Vea from Washington only made the third team despite being the Pac 12 DPOY while Hercules Mata’afa of Wazzu made the first team. Something is clearly off about the media’s view of the PAC 12 and has been for years. The Pac 12 is dead last in selections. 🔑What are your thoughts?
GAME TWO: USC vs STANFORD It seemed like the hardest hump of the season. A then ranked #6 USC team faced off against the bogey team of #14 ranked Stanford Cardinal. Coach Helton had never defeated Stanford before, being 0-3 in his time as head coach. Going into the game, it seemed that the contest would come down to a field goal, but that proved to be very wrong. Our boys came out of the gate blazing, scoring on each of their first three possessions. Though Bryce Love and co did their best to try and match that, the lack of a dominant QB really hurt the Cardinal as we quickly found a way to counter the eventual Heisman runner-up. After his initial 75 yard run, Love would only manage 85 yards on 16 carries, which is quite impressive. On our offensive side, we saw a prime Sam Darnold, going 80% passing along with 4 TD's. His main beneficiaries were Deontay Burnett and Steven Mitchell, going for a combined 200+ yards and a pair of touchdowns as well. After running away with the game in the second half, we won 42-24. At this point, we thought that USC would be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but a few unaccountable things blocked our way, which we will go over later. What were your thoughts after this game?
THANK YOU FOR 2K. We started fightonlive as an outlet of discussion and fandom. Our community has really grown this season with the help of you all and we truly appreciate all your comments and support. With recruiting heating up in the next 2 months, we’ll make sure to get you in on the scoop, and trust me, there’s going to be a ton of it this year. Quick note: Current QB Coach and passing game coordinator Tyson Helton is dubbed to be the next Tennessee OC. Will be interesting to see who USC appoints to fill this void. Fight on!
“Next to excellence is the appreciation of it” - William Thackeray Count ‘em 7 All-PAC 12 first team, 4 All-PAC 12 second team(Deontay Burnett, Toa Lobendahn, Matt Lopes, and Christian Rector)and 9 All-PAC 12 Honorable Mentions.(Chris Brown, Stephen Carr, Josh Fatu, Chris Hawkins, Iman Marshall, Steven Mitchell, Tyler Petite, Brandon Pili, and Tyler Vaughns) Congrats!
BACKDOOR WHISPERS: JT TO 2018. You heard it here first. Current USC QB commit and #1 2019 QB JT Daniels may be in play to be a part of the 2018 class. How you may ask? Well, JT is actually an older kid for his grade, as he is set to turn 18 this February. Due to this, he is looking to somehow advance to the grade that he was supposed to be a part of. And he may just get that, with the help of a few backdoor academic classes that he has to fulfill. A 2018 Daniels (if ready) along with a WR core of Pittman, Burnett, Vaughns, and Daniel BaeBae is lethal. The loss of Sam Darnold in the case he leaves will not tear the team down too significantly because this team can still compete for the playoffs and will be solid all around. Swipe left to see some of his stellar passes. But, it gets better. Because of this, there has reportedly been a silent commit that wants to play with his favorite distributor. Do you think you know who it is? 🎉 Comment below 😏😏 NOTE: we’re just saying dont panic, we have a really good replacement if Sam leaves. Sears and Fink and JT will all have to battle for it, any of the 3 can win.
USC VS STANFORD OFFENSE GAME GRADES 💎QB: A Best performance that we have seen from Sam in a while. Was accurate and decisive with his throws, and even launched a few long balls. He had a connection with Mike Pittman all night. 325 Yards, 2 TD's and no turnovers on good efficiency is an impressive feat. 💎RB: B+ Rojo won the matchup against Heisman prospect Bryce Love and found ways to get through the Stanford D-line with a weak OL of ours. We will really miss him. However, let's not forget that Stephen Carr had a fumble that almost cost us the game. 💎OL: B+ Compared to the beginning of the season, the line was a shell of its former self. Despite this, our boys stepped up and only let Sam get sacked once despite of how make shift the line was. Huge shout out to Jordan Austin for stepping up to the occasion and making no mistakes in his time in the game. 💎TE: B+ The Corp blocked well and were quiet most of the night aside from two HUGE plays, a 40 yarder to Imatorbhebhe that really set the tone and a critical game winning 4th down conversion to Falo. Since his emergence, Falo seems to always make the critical plays. 💎WR: A I thought I would find myself praising Deontay Burnett, but I find myself turning to two other stellar players. Steven Mitchell and Mike Pittman had a heck of a game. Starting off with the RS Senior, he showed his speed and potential that we saw in High School, with 66 yards and two major plays. Mike Pittman stepped up the most however. New career highs with 7 receptions and 146 yards as a young sophomore. His two huge receptions when we were pinned back in our own endzone essentially won us the game, and he arguably was our best player. He is going to be a matchup nightmare in the future. Watch out! 🔑Comment your thoughts on offense below👇*original photo from KRMG.com SMU hoops game tonight in a NCAA tourney rematch ✌️
