One of my most dangerous plants. For the longest time I thought it was a cane cholla cactus that was kinda long and spindly because it wasnβt in full sun. A few years ago I moved it around to more sun, cut it back and hoped it would bounce back and finally bloom like the other #cholla . Well as you can see it is not a #canecholla . These flowers are huge like the #orchidcactus#epiphyllum I have but the plant itself is rope like with crazy long painful needles. Unlike all my other cactus flowers this one is super fragrant. Hereβs something I donβt post about often: #plantfail π€ I spent a few days in British Columbia back in May and I, of course, picked up a few plants at my fav nursery. One of them was a big 10β orchid cactus which (as you can clearly see) did not acclimate well from the breezy BC climate to Manitobaβs humid summer. More than half of the plant completely rotted away and I was only able to save a few clippings. Even today, the clippings I have managed to root are starting to get wrinkly and squishy. So, the standalone *stem* you see reaching towards the light here is a big triumph. Just look at it.
