#seattlesmallbiz you should support: Hilltop Service Station, the last full-service gas station & auto shop in #Seattle . Hilltop stopped selling gas on Sept 29th, as the owners of the property the station sits on, the Bergaminis, are looking to sell it for #redevelopment . On 15th Ave E on North Capitol Hill, it used to be a Texaco station, but Hilltop owner Mike Burke de-branded & took it independent in the early '90s in order to keep it old school full service. Burke has been working at the station since '78, when he started pumping gas as a college student. The auto shop will still be open, and Burke will reassess whether to sell gas again, and whether to relocate - after he finds out how much time he has at the current location. #Hilltop was decorated with flowers back in July for the filming of a music video. It's also been frequented by a bagpiper. A beloved community spot, this is a real bummer to Hilltop's longtime customers. From Capitol Hill Times, Burke said, "There's a lot of sadness. Our clientele has been really more like a created family of people that would come and check us out, and if they liked us, they would stay. Many of our customers have stayed for decades." Let's hope Hilltop will live on. Thanks to @caseynickole for the heads up & reposts. It's good to get off The Rock once in a while; experience the "unnormal".
The sun seems awfully close....
A lot going on
