My friend’s Parkour studio just closed and she called me up and asked if I wanted the wood from all the obstacles they had to disassemble. Of course I said yes and it turned out to be perfect timber for a very long overdue project on the farm- putting in barn stalls. As is always the case around here, demo took forever and lots of creative temporary “fixes” had to get actually fixed along the way. Nothing is ever square around here, so I had to add lots of extra framing in the rafters to make everything work and each piece had to be custom cut. The stalls turned out great though and it was all in a day’s work. They really open up the barn and make it far more useful. The animals were verrryy curious about their new digs at first, but settled right in. When I went to tuck everyone in last night, everyone, including Ike and Tina the rescue alpacas, were all snuggled in like they’d spent every night of their lives in there. Saturday I’ll put in gates to close in the stalls just in time for some goat babies we are hoping for in the next couple weeks. Check out my stories for more animal reactions to their new space!
