My wife and I wanted to grow fresh vegetables and herbs, but didn’t have the time or space to plant and maintain a traditional garden or raised bed garden. We both worked long hours and had a family to attend and other obligations. We decided to plant a container garden on our deck and patio, but soon realized that mature, large, fruiting vegetable plants in containers must be watered several times per day. We were able to maintain a few of the leafy greens and herbs, but not the large fruiting vegetables. Needless to say, our large plants died and/or produced little fruit since we could not leave work to tend and water our container garden. The following year we tried other container garden systems available on the market, but could not find any that actually worked. They were okay for small plants and leafy greens, but not large vegetable plants. I realized there must be many gardeners who experienced the same problems. It was then that I decided to design and invent a self-watering, self-feeding, small space container garden that actually worked – one that was capable of growing large vegetable plants. Drip Garden® was born!
