My hubby hasnt always been the most hands-on person in the kitchen, tho he would make french fries quite eagerly. As our son got older and he took care of him, he learned to scramble eggs atleast. In time, with the addition of another son, he was forced to use the stove more often. As a highly selective vegetarian, he does like lentils...all kinds of lentils. This morning i phone and ask him to take red lentils out and to soak 2 cups, followed by a set of instructions and a short explanation of wot he will c etc. Its been a while since i had eaten lentils. Tip for today: ✔ If u using beans, grains or legumes, soak for a good few hours. 24 hours atleast. Change the water as u can. This reduces the phytochemicals and flatulence often caused by beans, grains and legumes. U will notice the water is milky and the longer u soak it the clearer the water becomes. This is more beneficial to u since the phytochemicals are quite bad for u. A short while after dinner i started experiencing severe abdominal cramps. It was so terrible that after 2 hours my hubby brought me some Eno and water. 5 mins later i was gagging in the loo. I am convinced its the lentils that was causing the upset. It has been for ages that i soak our lentils for 1-2 days before using it and today it was just a few hours. My hubby ate from the same food and he was totally ok. I prepared the same base dish and then i just added my meatballs to a portion and warmed through slightly. So while his body could tolerate it, mine couldnt. Your body will speak to u, u just have to listen attentively and see the warning signs.
