I love it when vendors I am working with go all out on their food. This almost looked too good to eat....almost! Happy “tasty Tuesday” ⠀ ⠀ Who else struggles to not take the whole serving plate when a server walks up and asks if you would like one? “One?! Do you see how delicious they look....I have 2 hands...how about 2?!”
Happy Monday! Baby bumps are the sweetest. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ There is still no power in Southern Pines, NC due to multiple trees falling on power lines, but today the sun is out (at least it is out for a little while). I do wish there was power, but I am resting on the promise that God made...to never flood the earth again. Here’s to looking for the rainbow.
Occasionally I get to spend time with babies. I just love these times. Their cute little fingers and toes and how they drift to sleep. Not a care in the world... all they need is provided for them.
Yay!!!!! Saturday is here. In a few hours I’ll be heading to Pinehurst prepared for a fun wedding. But first, I’ll be playing with my kiddos. ⠀ ⠀ Any special plans this weekend?!
Yay!!! It’s a fantastic Friday! This amazing couple is up on my blog! Check out Braxton and Megan’s session. Link to my blog is in the bio!⠀ ⠀ What’s going on for your weekend?
“Falling in love is easy. Falling in love with the same person repeatedly is extraordinary.”⠀ —Crystal Woods⠀ ⠀ These sweethearts have been together since the ninth grade. And this weekend starts a new chapter. I’ve spent just a little time with them but I can see it will be a fun celebration and an exciting future. ⠀
Happy Monday.... oh wait! It’s Tuesday!! Happy Tuesday!! ⠀ ⠀ It was a busy weekend. Friday wedding, Saturday morning portrait on Pinehurst #2 ..and a Sunday trip to VA for this fun engagement session! This was my first session on a boat. It was so much fun! I’m looking forward to this 2019 wedding!!!
I have to say that this proposal was so sweet! It was definitely a hot day and these two little sweeties had no idea what happened. They were just happy to have a little chocolate for all their good smiles. But then they saw their mommy with tears of joy....and a beautiful ring. Congrats to this wonderful couple and their family. Happy Labor Day! I hope your day will be spent with loved ones!⠀
“The relationship between husband and wife should be one of closest friends.” - B. R. Ambedkar⠀ ⠀ I’m so excited about the upcoming weddings! 3 weeks....3 weddings....and engagement sessions in between. I consider myself so blessed to have the opportunity to spend these days with my brides and their closest friends.
“We need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things, all of it, all of the time, every day. You’re saying ‘Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness’. -Shall We Dance ⠀ What an amazing day to celebrate 50 years of marriage. I attended a marriage class with my husband on Sunday and this quote came up. It immediately brought me to tears as I thought of this couple and their vow renewal the night prior. This is not only why I love to photograph...this is what I want to get to with my own marriage. 50 years of bearing witness to my Lewis. To care about everything. The great, good, the bad, the terrible, the mundane, all of the time. Every day.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. ... Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4: 9,10,12 . I have fallen more than I care to remember. But I always remember the one who picks me up...this is a good reminder to always stay close. Love you, Lew.
Ah I love pretty shiny rings! Congrats to Emily & Christopher! #wedding2020

“A daughter is someone you laugh with, dream with, and love with all your heart."⠀ ⠀ Looking back when I was little, I remember wanting a boy and a girl when I grew up. Perhaps it’s because that’s what I knew...it was always me and my big brother. But God gave me two little girls and I wouldn’t want anything else. My girls are who I laugh with, dream with, and love with all my heart. I’m excited for this couple as they have just welcomed their baby girl into this world and are ready to laugh, dream, and already love her with all their hearts. ⠀
Happy Monday! Make it an amazing one! My most recent wedding is on the blog! Check it out. Link in my profile. #amazingmonday
This has got to be my favorite “something blue”. And it means so much to her. She was in her cap and gown just a couple of months ago and UNC holds a special place in her heart....even more now since she arrived at the UNC tower last Saturday in her wedding gown and under the arches, shared their first kiss ever and their sweet vows. . . . #carolinablue #somethingblue #somethingcarolinablue #raleighweddingphotographer #durhamweddingphotography
Happy macro Monday! Is everyone ready for the week?! After 12 hours of traveling, I feel a little out of sorts. Now it’s Monday already. Where did the time go? Well I hope ya’ll have a happy Monday!
My Addy will be 7 in 5 days. My baby...it’s gone by so quickly. She’s more than a little spunky. She is the most persistent person I know. Love her😍
“You know when you have found your prince because you not only have a smile on your face, but in your heart as well.” —Unknown Author⠀ ⠀ Lovely Victoria has always loved Disney movies. One of her favorites is the Little Mermaid. Her friends have appropriated named Adam Prince Eric. So fitting for this little princess.
“Sometimes in the middle of an ordinary life... LOVE gives us a fairytale.” Melissa Brown. ⠀ ⠀ On August 4th, I will be witnessing Ashlyn and Alex say “I do”. I cannot express how excited I am for this day!!!
If I had my wedding to do over again I would choose these bouquets. Botanicals did an amazing job and the lasted a very hot day. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ This picture is of a mother and daughter. Both so beautiful and happy. 😍⠀ ⠀
Yay!!!! I’m so excited! I was nominated this year for best photographer!! I’m so thankful for having amazing and thoughtful clients!!! https://bestofthepines.com
Happy Monday!!! ⠀ ⠀ I wanted to give a shout out to The KJ students out there. The last couple of weddings from the Katelyn James all access had “Photography kits”. I never heard of such a thing...lol!!! So I looked into some but couldn’t find anything that was affordable and/or in stock. ⠀ ⠀ So I just went searching...I found some beautiful chiffon ribbon from Wisteria and Vine and dried flowers from Rosaflower48. I love how it turned out in some detail shots. I just got some ring boxes from Amonie Ring Boxes and cannot wait to use them for my next wedding on the 4th!!! ⠀ ⠀ So for my photography friends, do you use Photography kits? If so, what do you use?
He proposed...she said yes...and his smile says it all. Love engagements!!😍😍😍
This bride and her besties were amazing! Look at them helping her get ready for her portraits! ⠀ ⠀ And this house!!!! Wow! I think it was made with a photographer in mind.
Hello! I haven't done a Friday Introduction in a hot minute so here are 5 things about me...⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 1. I am a foodie. I have been known to close my eyes while eating to fully enjoy the flavors. Now I notice my 9 and 7 year old doing the same thing. ⠀ ⠀ 2. I have my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutrition and spent 10 years in the Army as a dietitian. My daughter pinned my Major rank on at 4 months of age. ⠀ ⠀ 3. Favorite snack: M&Ms in popcorn and favorite dessert is mint chocolate chip ice cream. ⠀ ⠀ 4. I am a certified fitness instructor (yup....shocker).⠀ ⠀ 5. I love music. I love to sing and pretend I can play the guitar or ukulele. And I usually have some song stuck in my head. Love the Beatles (thanks to my mom). ⠀ ⠀ So here’s to another fabulous fun-filled Friday.
Every day I spend with you is my new best day.
Today I am meeting with two of my brides. One for a sweet bridal party and the other for a bridal session at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst! ⠀ ⠀ Can I just tell you that this job is so much fun! I cannot even call it work. I am blessed to do something I love. To meet wonderful people and create. And I am blessed with the most amazing brides. Love you all!!!
Saturdays are my favorite day of the week. I sleep a little longer (by that I mean until 8:00 am)...I relax...I read at my table overlooking my forest of a back yard (it’s crazy overgrown but I’m not going to think of all the work it would take to fix that)...I drink my coffee and just breathe. ⠀ ⠀ I’m so thankful for gifts that I have been given....the sound of my husband in the next room peacefully sleeping (and retired so will no longer have to go away with the military)....laughter of my children...my sweet home and green back yard...but more than that...my ears that hear and my eyes that see. Sometimes we go so fast that it is easy to miss the gifts...it’s also easy to miss the giver. Reading Ecclesiasties this morning reminds me that we were not made to love the gifts more than the giver but to love the giver and celebrate the gifts He gives.

I remember their wedding day and now this family is getting ready to grow. Such a sweet family! Cannot wait to meet her!

I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you, not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me.⠀ -Roy Croft
“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.” —Sophia Loren
Oh how I love the details. If I had to do it all over again, I would have these shoes.
Happy Macro- Monday! I love macro shots of pretty shiny things.
Such a sweet couple. They braved the heat yesterday to get pictures before the arrival of their baby.
“There is such a special sweetness in being able to participate in creation.” – Pamela S. Nadav⠀ ⠀ This morning’s session was a dream! The weather was beautiful and everything ( including this mom) was blooming.
What an amazing month June has been. I’ll be shooting this weekend and then taking a break to spend much needed time with my family (which includes my parents, sister in law, and nephews). I am so excited for a little rest (although my kids and nephews are high energy). Then back to engagements, elopements, and summer weddings. ⠀ ⠀ I absolutely love what I do. It is such a gift that God has given me. A job that doesn’t feel like work. It’s definitely good to rest but with the client/friends I have, work is never work. It’s a joy.
Yay! It’s Friday! I’m so excited for this weekend!! It’s gonna be a hot couple of days. I love when my brides bring pretty ways to keep cool.
This weekend I traveled to Greensboro and did an engagement shoot in some place new....in a bar....at 3 pm. Lol! So this was a first. ⠀ ⠀ This is why I love what I do. I am forced beyond my comfort zone to shoot in a new location where the lighting is definitely different than what I am use to. ⠀ ⠀ But this wasn’t just any bar. It was the bar where this sweet couple met. It’s where they came to unwind and noticed each other. Where they realized they lived in the same apartment complex but their paths never crossed until that night. It’s a special little place. They know the bartender’s name and he knows their favorite drink. A cozy place filled with laughter and with vintage records. I am so excited to get to know this couple and see them share their favorite drink on their wedding day.
"I look at you and see the rest of my life in front of my eyes." — unknown.
This was so much fun! I love going to new places. Greensboro, you are a gem. Adam & Victoria, you two are amazing!!! I cannot wait for your wedding day!!!!
I woke up super early this morning before the sun. What I got to see was just a beautiful as the sunrise. Congratulations to a sweet and loving couple!
I am beyond excited and spinning with joy that this couple is featured in Brides and Weddings. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Check it out here: http://bridesandweddings.com/blog/2018/06/11/courtney-and-robbie-a-horse-of-a-different-color/
There’s no better way than to go through your wedding day than to be with your best friends. And these girls were amazingly hilarious. I loved everything about them and can definitely see why Stephanie chose them.
Psalm 139:13 NIV⠀ For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.⠀
Is it Monday already?! It was such a fun weekend. I got to spend time with family and a couple whose wedding Lewis and I will be shooting next May. And then I got to spend some time with this little angel. I love Emily. She’s so real. All the kids were running and playing. But Emily was sitting, tears in her eyes and all that hair in her face. Why? Because her father asked her to sit and be patient. She wanted to swing but she would have to wait her turn. ⠀ ⠀ Ugh isn’t waiting hard? In this world of instant gratification, waiting may seem impossible....agonizing. But learning to wait is a lesson that is invaluable. And we have a Father that will lead us, sit us down, and tell us to wait. Emily’s dad smiled...he gave her a hug. He knew in a short time she would have what she waiting for. She knew it would be an eternity. He was teaching her patience and practicing his patience at the same time.

Happy Saturday!!! Whatever you have going on today, face it with confidence....and don’t forget your lipstick.

Beautiful momma. 😍
All the lovely details! I’m in heaven.
What a sweet wedding. It called for rain....it sky rumbled...but not a drop hit the ground until the day was done. It seemed to rain all around us, but no clouds over this couple. Congratulations, Bill & Tracy. Today’s wedding was perfect.
This was a perfect backdrop for this amazing dress. I love the Fair Barn.
Lovely details. Happy Wednesday. Waiting patiently for this weekend’s wedding!
This was one of the sweetest moments. Both officers in the military. Both so strong but he first saw her, he was amazed. And she melted in his arms. I love first looks! Intimate and perfect.
I’m so in love with this session. This mommy was sweet and so stunning. I cannot wait to meet her little man and watch him grow.

There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved. -George Sand⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Last weekend was first double-header. It rained both days...and it was smokin hot. But this couple was nothing but smiles....some with tears. It was beautiful to witness. ⠀
Reflections are the best! That’s the upside of all this rain😁
Funny story! I love sweet ring shots! I actually spent more time with this ring than during any other session. The couple showed up to Pinehurst from Chapel Hill all ready to go...except for his shoes...they left his shoes in her apartment. Fortunately Belk was 9 minutes away! They road off, entrusting me with their stunning ring. So I took this ring on a tour of a beautiful garden...although I couldn’t find anything that would compare to the beauty of this ring...that is until they returned and I got to photograph Ashlyn. She is radiant!
Courtney told me she would ride her horse in for the ceremony...when she said ride, she meant RIDE! It was quite a sight. Beautiful!
Happy Monday! I’m in week 2 of my fitness & healthy eating challenge. Week 1 down and I did so well...until I was faced with this beautiful cake. I was so looking forward to seeing what C Cups Cakery had in store for this wedding. I love their cupcakes!!! But then I see this... wait a minute... it’s a big cake...not a cup cake?! It looked beautiful!!! Now I usually do not partake in eating the cake (who has time for eating with a fork...cupcakes are a different story...very easy to cram in a cupcake while holding a camera). The bride encouraged me to take a break and try it...it had a red velvet, chocolate, and creamsicle layer. So I grabbed a piece for me and for my second shooter (and challenge buddy...if I was going down, I was taking her with me) and we devoured it! It was amazing!!! Worth every calorie! ⠀ ⠀ Now it’s Monday and I’m back to the challenge!
Congratulations to Robbie and Courtney! It was such a fun celebration!!!
Today was a fun and rainy day! Congrats to Don and Tracy. #goinscott
I love this bouquet. Simple yet elegant. The perfect spot for a beautiful set of rings.
“All you need is Love”....and a big helping of cake. Lol! Happy Thursday!
Happy Wednesday! It just started and I’m beat! Anyone else stay up late? I was up editing and then I looked up...midnight?! Seriously?! Lol!!!
