Waiting around. You inevitably end up doing a lot of this when travelling, but the beauty of it is that it is usually a worthwhile activity in itself. Whether milking the WiFi in a cafe for a few hours, or sitting in a bus terminal making sure you don't miss your next journey, it's often great, and necessary, to have time 'in between'. (Admittedly, sometimes it's terrible - like during a string of ridiculous overnight flights). ... Practical things you can do whilst "waiting" include: accommodation booking, transport research, reading a book, striking up conversations with strangers, listening to music, editing photos, corresponding with friends back home, discussing your life goals, reminiscing about happy memories with your travel buddy, drinking coffee, keeping up with a diary, thinking how happy you are not to be in your place of work, napping, and, of course, writing extended Instagram posts that probably nobody reads the end of. ... And if you progress to advanced level "waiting" and learn, without impatience, to see the beauty in every little thing and moment around you - someone going about their job as part of our advanced world civilisation, the simplest nature of a bird flying or a tree growing - then you will never be bored. Give it a go!
